Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Arthurian legends suggest that during the 'lost years' of Jesus, between the ages of twelve to twenty-nine, he travelled to Britain. This inspired the William Blake poem "And did those feet in ancient time" written in 1804. Who was Jesus reputed to be travelling with?

Answer: Joseph of Arimathea

Many hypotheses exist about the 'lost years' of Jesus, also referred to as the unknown years. Some suggest that he worked with his father Joseph as a carpenter, but Arthurian legends suggest that he travelled to Britain with Joseph of Arimathea who is also reputed to have been the keeper of the Holy Grail. Robert de Boron wrote about this in his poem "Joseph d'Arimathie". William Blake wrote in "And did those feet in ancient time":

"And did those feet in ancient time,
Walk upon England's mountains green:
And was the holy Lamb of God,
On England's pleasant pastures seen!

And did the Countenance Divine,
Shine forth upon our clouded hills?
And was Jerusalem builded here,
Among these dark Satanic Mills?

Bring me my Bow of burning gold;
Bring me my Arrows of desire:
Bring me my Spear: O clouds unfold!
Bring me my Chariot of fire!

I will not cease from Mental Fight,
Nor shall my Sword sleep in my hand:
Till we have built Jerusalem,
In England's green and pleasant Land."

2. The child of which US president gained some fame through frequent gaffes in public, initiating a war and becoming a consummate portrait painter in his retirement, amongst other things?

Answer: George H.W. Bush

The son of 41st president George H.W. Bush is of course the 43rd president of the United States George W. Bush who served two terms in office from 2001 to 2009. Bush junior announced the "War on Terror" in response to the fateful September 11 terror attacks in 2001. He ordered the invasion of Afghanistan in 2001 and Iraq in 2003. Bush took up painting as a hobby and even released a book of portraits in 2017 called "Portraits of Courage". He is also very well known for his Bushisms, linguistic and semantic errors. Some examples of these are "They misunderestimated me", "There's an old saying in Tennessee-I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee-that says, 'Fool me once, shame on...shame on you. Fool me - you can't get fooled again'" and "Our enemies are innovative and resourceful, and so are we. They never stop thinking about new ways to harm our country and our people, and neither do we.".

3. The tomb of 18th Dynasty, Egyptian boy-pharaoh Tutankhamun was discovered by Howard Carter in 1922. There is no conclusive evidence to the cause of his death, although a number of different diseases and assassination has been suggested. The DNA analysis did confirm one definite disease though. Which one?

Answer: Malaria

Tutankhamun reigned over the Egyptian New Kingdom from 1332 BC to 1323 BC. Many theories have been put forward regarding the death of Tutankhamun including assassination. Numerous DNA analysis have been done and various teams have put forward different ideas as to the cause of his death. CT scans showed that he suffered a broken leg which may have become infected and showed that he may have had a partially cleft palate. Marfan syndrome, Wilson-Turner X-linked mental retardation syndrome, Fröhlich syndrome, Klinefelter syndrome, Antley-Bixler syndrome and temporal lobe epilepsy were all suggested. Malaria was definitely confirmed as being present. DNA evidence suggests that he was infected numerous times with a severe strain.
