Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Who closed the door of the Ark?

Answer: None of these

See Genesis 7:16. The Lord shut the door of the ark after the animals and Noah and his family had entered.
2. God first spoke to Samuel when he was a young boy sleeping in the temple. For whom was this message?

Answer: Eli

See 1 Samuel 3. God was angry with Eli, because his sons, Hophni and Phinehas, were disobedient to God and Eli did not discipline them as he should have done. The sons were killed when the Philistines captured the ark and Eli died when he heard the news of the capture and the death of his sons (see Chapter 4). Ichabod was Eli's grandson, who was born just after these events.
3. Who escaped from angry Jews in Damascus by being let down through a hole in the wall in a basket?

Answer: Saul

See Acts 9:23-5. It is perhaps not surprising that the Jews were angry with Saul, because of his radical change of heart.
4. To whom did Paul write about the runaway slave Onesimus?

Answer: Philemon

See the New Testament book of Philemon. Paul trusts for a full reconciliation between Philemon and Onesimus, which under Roman law was impossible. However, as brothers in Christ, they can be reconciled. Many see this story as an allegory of the reconciliation that Jesus has made possible between man and God.
5. According to the book of Genesis, whose father sent his chief servant on a special mission to find a wife for his son?

Answer: Isaac

See Genesis 24. This is one of many examples in the Bible of how a 'chance encounter' can be God's appointment.
6. Which Old Testament prophet prophesied about the Valley of Dry Bones?

Answer: Ezekiel

See Ezekiel 37:1-14. A promise of restoration to Israel, and, Christians believe, to the Church and individual believers.
7. Which Old Testament King had his life extended by fifteen years, after he prayed to God?

Answer: Hezekiah

See Isaiah 38. He was one of Judah's better kings. Although he made mistakes, he showed genuine repentance.
8. Who, in the book of Acts, died along with his wife, because they lied about the price of a piece of land?

Answer: Ananias

See Acts 5:1-11. They were lying to God, not to men. Sapphira was Ananias' wife. Timon and Nicanor are two of the first deacons, named in Acts 6.
9. Who was thrown into prison with Paul in Philippi?

Answer: Silas

See Acts 16:16-40. Silas accompanied Paul on some of his missionary journeys. Barnabas and Mark accompanied him at other times.
10. By rearranging the first letters of the previous nine answers, you will find the name of the New Testament book in which Paul encourages Christians to 'put on the whole armour of God'.

Answer: Ephesians

See Ephesians 6:11. This is good advice for all Christians, as it helps us to resist the temptations of the devil and to live the Christian life the way God wants us to.
