Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What's the common link between the Prodigal Son and the Shrewd Manager?

Answer: Two characters in parables told by Jesus in the Gospel of Luke.

The Prodigal Son and the Shrewd Manager are the two main characters in parables told by Jesus. The parables appear in only the Gospel of Luke. The Parable of the Prodigal Son, or the Lost Son in the NIV Bible, is found in Luke 15: 11-31 and the Parable of the Shrewd Manager is found in 16: 1-14. (Feel free to try your hand at another quiz I have posted on FunTrivia about the Prodigal Son.)
2. What's the common link between Timothy and Titus?

Answer: Two workers in the early church who were written epistles from Paul.

Timothy and Titus were two workers in the early church who received letters from Paul. Those letters are 1 Timothy, 2 Timothy and Titus. The three books are part of the 13 books in the New Testament that bear Paul's name as the author.
3. What's the common link between Matthew and Luke?

Answer: Two writers of Gospels

Matthew and Luke are two writers of the four Gospels. Matthew was one of the original 12 disciples while Luke served with Paul on his missionary journeys. The two other Gospel writers are Mark and John.
4. What's the common link between Jesus and the two unnamed thieves?

Answer: All three were crucified.

Jesus was crucified with two unnamed thieves. I especially like the account in the Gospel of Luke in which Jesus assures one of the thieves he will be with him in paradise. Luke 23: 39-43, in the NIV Bible, states: "One of the criminals who hung there hurled insults at him: 'Aren't you the Christ? Save yourself and us!' But the other criminal rebuked him. 'Don't you fear God,' he said, 'since you are under the same sentence? We are punished justly, for we are getting what our deeds deserve.

But this man has done nothing wrong.' Then he said, 'Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.' Jesus answered him, 'I tell you the truth, today you will be with me in paradise.'"
5. What's the common link between a priest, a Levite and a Samaritan?

Answer: Three people who encountered a half-dead man alongside a road.

The priest and the Levite passed the half dead man, but the Samaritan stopped to help. In addition, the Samaritan made sure the man was taken care of in the future after he took him to an inn and gave the innkeeper two silver coins to take care of his needs.

The account is told in the famous parable titled the Good Samaritan. It can be found in Luke 10:25-37. (Feel free to try your hand at another quiz I have posted at FunTrivia about the Good Samaritan.)
6. What's the common link between Tryphena and Tryphosa?

Answer: Two people listed in personal greetings by Paul in Romans 16.

Yes, Tryphena and Tryphosa are two of a number of people who are listed in chapter 16 of Romans. The chapter is largely a long list of personal greetings Paul sends to believers in Rome. The chapter is seen by many today as a tribute to the common "Joe Christians" and "Jane Christians."
7. What's the common link between Jairus and the woman who touched Jesus and was healed?

Answer: Both experienced first hand miracles by Jesus on the same day.

According to Scripture, Jairus and the woman who touched Jesus both experienced first hand the miraculous powers of Christ on the same day. Jairus had his 12-year-old daughter raised from the dead by Jesus while the woman who touched Jesus was cured of a severe bleeding condition she had suffered for a number of years. Scripture tells of Jairus approaching Jesus to come and heal his seriously ill daughter before men arrived from his home saying the little girl was dead.

However, before Jesus went to Jairus' home and raised the girl from the dead, he felt energy leaving his body when the woman secretly touched him.

After the woman confessed she was the one who touched Jesus, he told the woman her faith had made her well. (Feel free to try your hand at two other quizzes I have posted on FunTrivia. One is about Jairus' daughter being raised from the dead and the other is about the woman who was healed by touching Jesus.)
8. What's the common link between John the Baptist and Andrew?

Answer: One was a prophet, the other his follower.

John the Baptist is seen by many Christians as the last of the Old Testament-style prophets as he stated he was sent to prepare the way for the Lamb that takes away the sin of the world. According to John 1: 35-40, Andrew was a disciple of John before he became a disciple of Jesus.
9. What's the common link between Peter and Philip?

Answer: Both came from Bethsaida.

According to John 1:44, they both came from Bethsaida, a fishing community on the Sea of Galilee. Peter, of course, was front and center among the disciples, serving in the role of a shop foreman, if you will. Philip, however, played a more subdued role with his name being used in stories in only the Gospel of John.

In Matthew, Mark and Luke, Philip's name simply appears in a list of names of the disciples.
10. What's the common link between Matthias and Joseph called Barsabbas (also called Justus)?

Answer: Both were in the running to replace Judas Iscariot as the 12th disciple

According to Acts 1:10-26, both were nominated to replace Judas Iscariot as the 12th disciple. Judas, of course, had committed suicide after he betrayed Christ prior to his crucifixion. Matthias carried the day and became the 12th disciple, beating out Joseph called Barsabbas (also called Justus). However, there is no further mention of Matthias and Joseph in Scripture.
