Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. The woman who stole household gods from her father Laban

Answer: Who is Rachel?

While her father was shearing sheep, Rachel stole the household gods of her father Laban, as per Genesis 31:19. Rachel stole the items after her husband Jacob had another falling out with Laban. Deciding he had enough, Jacob fled with his two wives, Rachel and Leah. Later Laban would catch up with Jacob demanding to know where his household gods were. Rachel, however, would deny having any knowledge about how the items disappeared.
2. The woman who gave birth of Isaac when she was ninety years old

Answer: Who is Sarah?

Sarah was ninety years old when she gave birth to Isaac, according to Genesis 17:17. The same verse states her husband Abraham was one hundred years old. Up to this point in time, the couple had been unable to conceive.

Isaac would marry Rebekah and they would become the parents of Jacob and Esau, the first set of documented twins in Bible.
3. The number of times the Israelites marched around Jericho before the walls came tumbling down

Answer: What is 7?

After the Israelites marched around Jericho seven tines, the walls of the city came tumbling down, according to the sixth chapter of Joshua. With the walls no longer an obstacle, the Israelite army swooped in and easily conquered the city. Joshua 6:17-25 states only Rahab the prostitute and her family were spared when the Israelites took possession of Jericho.
4. The judge of Israel who had thirty sons who rode thirty donkeys

Answer: Who is Jair?

Jair was a judge of Israel who had thirty sons who rode on thirty donkeys, as per Judges 10:3-4. Jair was a Gileadite and judged Israel for twenty-two years. No details are given as to how many wives he had and the number of daughters.
5. The book in the KJV Bible that consists of sixty-six chapters

Answer: What is the Book of Isaiah?

Using Bible versions such as the KJV, NKJV and NIV, Isaiah consists of sixty-six chapters, making it the second longest book in the Old Testament. Only Psalms with one hundred and fifty chapters is longer.

According to Isaiah 1:1, the writer of the book was the son of Amoz and prophesied in the days of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah, kings of Judah.
6. The king who consulted with Samuel after Samuel was dead

Answer: Who is Saul?

Saul, the first king of Israel, is the correct answer. 1 Samuel 28 tells of Saul consulting with an unnamed female medium in En Dor to find out if his army would win an upcoming battle with the Philistines at Shunem. Scripture states Saul was deeply distressed because the LORD had not answered his inquiries.

The chapter goes on to tell of the medium being successful in bringing up Samuel for Saul, even though Samuel had been dead for some time. The news for Saul, however, was not good.

Not pulling any punches, Samuel told Saul he and his army would face a crushing defeat because he had turned his back on the LORD. Samuel also told Saul he would die in the battle along with his sons.

What Samuel predicted came true. Chapter 31 of 1 Samuel tells of the defeat of the Israelites and the deaths of Saul and his sons.
7. The prophet of God associated with a valley of bones

Answer: Who is Ezekiel?

Ezekiel is the prophet of God who is associated with a valley of bones. In Ezekiel 37:1, the prophet writes, "The hand of the LORD came upon me and brought me out in the Spirit of the LORD, and set me down in the midst of the valley; and it was full of bones."

The chapter goes on to tell of Ezekiel prophesying and the bones coming together and having flesh, but there was no life in them. So he prophesied some more and the bodies came to life. According to Verse 11, the bones represent the children of Israel.

For more details, see Ezekiel 37:1-14.
8. The prophet of God who is associated with prophesying about Immanuel

Answer: Who is Isaiah?

Isaiah is the prophet of God who is associated with prophesying about Immanuel. In Isaiah 7:14 in the NKJV Bible, Isaiah prophesied, "Therefore the LORD Himself will give you a sign: Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel." Christians believe this is a direct reference to the birth of Jesus.

Matthew, the writer of the Gospel of Matthew, makes reference to Isaiah 7:14 and points out Immanuel means "God with us." For Matthew's comments, see Matthew 1:23.
9. The man who was the cousin of Esther

Answer: Who is Mordecai?

According to Esther 2:7, Mordecai was the cousin of Esther, who was originally known as Hadassah. When Esther became an orphan, Mordecai took her into his house. No details are given about Esther's parents or how they died.

Later in life, Esther would become queen of Persia, and she and Mordecai would team together to prevent a scheme to kill all the Jews from coming to fruition.
10. An Old Testament book that contains contributions from various writers

Answer: What is the Book of Psalms?

The Book of Psalms is different than other books in the Bible in the sense it was written by a number of different authors. The book consists of one hundred and fifty chapters, more than any other book in the Old Testament and New Testament. A number of the chapters were written by David who is credited with writing more than seventy of the Psalms.

However, other writers include Moses, Solomon, Asaph, the sons of Korah, Ethan and Heman. On top of all this, there are a large number of Psalms in which no one knows for certain the identity of the author.
