Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Colossians: "Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men." Where is this verse located in this book?

Answer: 3:23

The other quotations are:

"Anyone who does wrong will be repaid for his wrong, and there is no favoritism." (Colossians 3:25)

"But now he has reconciled you by Christ's physical body through death to present you holy in his sight, without blemish and free from accusation." (Colossians 1:22)

The letter to the Colossians only has four chapters, so there is no Colossians 5:16.
2. I Thessalonians: Who did Paul say the Thessalonians had become imitators of?

Answer: God

Not only does this letter say that they were imitators of God, but it says that they were models to all the believers in Macedonia and Achaia. This can be found in chapter 1 verse 6.
3. II Thessalonians: In the final greetings at the end of the letter, did Paul greet anyone by name?

Answer: No

He did this in some of his other letters, but not in this one. In the beginning of the letter, it says that the letter was from both Paul and Timothy. The end of the letter can be found in chapter 3 verses 16-18.
4. I Timothy: According to this letter, to whom was it sent, and from whom?

Answer: To Timothy from Paul

In fact, both 1st and 2nd Timothy are from Paul to Timothy. Paul called Timothy his "true son in the faith". This can be found in chapter 1 verses 1-2.
5. II Timothy: According to 2 Timothy 1:7, God has given Christians a spirit of what?

Answer: All of these

It says that God has not given Christians a spirit of timidity but of power, love and self-discipline. The letter encourages its readers "to fan into flame the gift of God" (2 Timothy 1:6).
6. Titus: "Encourage the young men to be _______." What fills the gap in the New International Version?

Answer: Self-controlled

"Similarly, encourage the young men to be self-controlled. In everything set them an example by doing what is good. In your teaching show integrity, seriousness and soundness of speech that cannot be condemned, so that those who oppose you may be ashamed because they have nothing bad to say about us." - Titus 2:6-8
7. Philemon: In chapter 1, it says that the letter was addressed to Philemon. To which other person or people was this book addressed by name?

Answer: Apphia and Archippus

It is addressed to Philemon, Apphia, Archippus and the church that meets in Philemon's house, which is the church in Colosse. This can be found in chapter 1 verse 1-2.
8. Hebrews: Which of the following people isn't mentioned in Hebrews 11?

Answer: Elijah

"By faith Enoch was taken from this life so that he did not experience death" (Hebrews 11:5).
"By faith Abraham, when called to go to a place he would later receive as his inheritance, obeyed and went, even though he did not know where he was going" (Hebrews 11:8).
"By faith Abel offered God a better sacrifice than Cain did. By faith he was commended as a righteous man, when God spoke well of his offerings" (Hebrews 11:4)
Elijah is not mentioned in this chapter.
9. James: How is the prayer of a righteous man described?

Answer: Powerful and effective

The Bible certainly doesn't say that a righteous man's prayer is "a higher priority than the prayer of a sinner" is wrong, because it says that God doesn't take favorites. Christians may believe that prayers are heard, are acted upon, and can move mountains, but the prayer described in James is called powerful and effective. This can be found in chapter 5, verse 16.
10. I Peter: Complete the New International Version quotation: "Peace to all of you who are in _______."

Answer: Christ

"Greet one another with a kiss of love. Peace to all of you who are in Christ" (1 Peter 5:14). This is the last thing said in 1 Peter and is in the final greetings.
