Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Find the match for the daughter of Laban, as per Genesis 29:16.

Answer: Rachel

Rachel was one of two daughters of Laban. She and her older sister Leah were both married to Jacob. Scripture tells of Jacob also having two concubines, but out of the four women in his life, Rachel was clearly the favorite. She was the mother of Joseph and Benjamin. Genesis 35:18 states Rachel died giving birth to Benjamin.
2. Find the match for the daughter of Eliam, as per 2 Samuel 11:3.

Answer: Bathsheba

Bathsheba is the correct answer. 2 Samuel 11 provides details of David, while on his palace rooftop, seeing Bathsehba taking a bath. Before long, David would be in all kinds of hot water as he would have an adulterous affair with Bathsheba and, when she became pregnant, he would orchestrate the death of her soldier husband Uriah.

In 1 Chronicles 3:5, Eliam is known as Ammiel in the KJV, NKJV and NIV.
3. Find the match for the daughter of Job, as per Job 42:14.

Answer: Keren-Happuch

Keren-Happuch was one of six daughters of Job. Three unnamed daughters of Job died along with their seven brothers when a vicious windstorm toppled the house they were in. On top of this, Job lost his massive wealth and ended up in dire health.

Through his trials and tribulations, Job remained faithful to God and Job 42 tells of his life being blessed immensely in his later years. In addition to regaining his health and accumulating twice as much wealth as before, Scripture tells of Job becoming the father of seven more sons and three more daughters. In addition to Keren-Happuch, the daughters were Jemimah and Kezia. Scripture states the three daughters were exceedingly beautiful.
4. Find the match for the daughter of Amram, as per Exodus 6:20.

Answer: Miriam

Amram was married to Jochebed, the mother of Miriam as well as Moses and Aaron. Moses, Aaron and Miriam were involved in leading the Israelites on a forty-year-long journey from Egypt to Canaan, known as the Promised Land. According to Exodus 6:20, Amram was actually Jochebed's nephew before they became husband-wife.
5. Find the match for the daughter of Lamech, as per Genesis 4:22.

Answer: Naamah

Going strictly by Scripture, Naamah is the first woman who is mentioned as being the daughter of someone. On top of this, Namaah's father, going strictly by Scripture, was the first bigamist as well as the second murderer, after Cain.

Exodus 4:19 tells of Lamech having two wives -- Adah and Zillah. (Apart from Eve, Adah is the first woman mentioned in Scripture.) Meanwhile, Genesis 4:22 tells of Zillah giving birth to a son, Tubal-Cain, and a daughter, Naamah.
6. Find the match for the daughter of Saul, as per 1 Samuel 14:49.

Answer: Merab

Going by 1 Samuel 14:49, Merab was one of two daughters of Saul, the first king of Israel. The second daughter was Michal who became the first wife of David. Little is known about Merab as she is mentioned largely in passing reference. However, according to 1 Samuel 18:17-10, Saul had planned to give her to David in marriage.

However, things ended up with Merab becoming the wife of Adriel the Meholathite and Michal becoming the wife of David. Scripture also states Merab was older than Michal.
7. Find the match for the daughter of Ishmael, as per Genesis 28:9.

Answer: Mahalath

Mahalath was a daughter of Ishmael, as per Genesis 28:9. The verse tells of Esau, the son of Isaac and Rebekah, taking Mahalath as his bride. Ishmael was the son of Abraham and Hagar, Sarah's handmaiden. However, little is known about Mahalath as she is mentioned in passing reference.

Mahalath was also the name of a wife of Rehobaom, the son of Solomon and grandson of David.
8. Find the match for Jephthah's daughter, as per Judges 11:29-40.

Answer: No name is given

No name is given for Jephthah's daughter who ended up losing her life due to a vow her father had made. Judges 11 tells of Jephthah, a judge and military commander, vowing to God if He would deliver the city of Ammon into his hands, he would sacrifice "whatever comes out of the doors of my house to meet me when I return in peace."

To Jephthah's horror, his unnamed daughter who was his only child, came out to greet him when he returned from war. Scripture goes on to tell of Jephthah keeping his vow with his daughter being sacrificed.
9. Find the match for the daughter of Phanuel, as per Luke 2:36.

Answer: Anna

Anna was the daughter of Phanuel, as per Luke 2:36. Anna is best known for being an elderly prophetess who took great delight when she saw the baby Jesus being presented by Joseph and Mary in the temple.

Having seen baby Jesus, Scripture states gave thanks to the Lord "and spoke of Him to all those who looked for redemption in Jerusalem."

Little is known about Phanuel, apart from the fact he was of the tribe of Asher, as he is mentioned in passing reference in Scripture.

For further details about Anna, see Luke 2:36-38.
10. Find the match for who is TRADITIONALLY regarded as the stepdaughter of Herod and daughter of Herodias.

Answer: Salome

Salome is the correct answer. Before I go any further, it must be stressed there is no conclusive proof Herod was the biological father of Salome. The Jewish historian Josephus recorded Salome was the daughter of Herod's wife Herodias. Herod's wife had been previously married to Philip, the brother of Herod. When John the Baptist strongly denounced the arrangement between Herod and Herodias, he ended up being tossed in prison.

It was while John was in prison Salome performed her notorious dance at a gala party thrown by Herod. Scripture states Herod was so pleased with her performance he offered to grant whatever wish she had, up to half his kingdom. Salome, spurred on by the prompting of Herodias, requested John the Baptist's head on a platter.

For details, see Matthew 14:1-12 and Mark 6:14-29.
