Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. How many days of creation are there according to Genesis?

Answer: six

There are two primary views of the six days of creation. First there are those who believe that the six days were 24 hours each. Then there are those who believe that the days were anywhere from thousands of years to millions of years each. Personally, I would lean more towards a literal interpretation, but the main point to be conveyed here is that God is the Creator and all that exists is His creation.
2. Which day of creation were all plant life created?

Answer: third

God created all plant life to reproduce after its own kind, i.e. apple seeds produce more apples, oranges produce more oranges, and so on. This does not negate the possibility of variations in plant life. There are red apples, green apples, yellow apples, but they are all still apples.

There is room to go deeper in explanation but not enough space to type it all so I will keep it simple and leave it at this.
3. What was created on the fifth day?

Answer: birds and aquatic life

There are some people that use aquatic life and birds coming before land animals in creation to attempt a marriage between evolution and creationism. Their efforts are futile because their core values are in opposition to each other. Creationism claims all things came into being through a personal and intelligent being willing them to exist. Evolution claims all things came into being through time and chance.

These are of course very simplified, but this argument is too expansive to attempt in any greater degree.
4. On which day did God say "Let there be light"?

Answer: first

There are those that argue that this occurring before the heavenly bodies are created proves the bible to be in error scientifically. Those who would claim this are assuming the heavenly bodies are the source of light. They are not the source of light because light occurs under other circumstances than the heavenly bodies create.

The main point here is that God is the source of all light and created other avenues by which light would reach the earth.
5. What else was created on the day man was created?

Answer: land animals

The most interesting and, I believe, overlooked aspect of day six in regards to further biblical word usage is that man is defined as both male and female. According the the King James Version, "So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them." (Genesis 1: 27). Where God intends unity, people have tendencies towards division in the area of male and female as well as in other areas such as appearance, language, and nationality.
6. Which day saw the sun, moon, and stars made?

Answer: fourth

There has been some dispute over this ordering of creation in that this happened four days after the creation of light and one day after the creation of plant life, most of which require sunlight for photosynthesis. Question four deals with the dispute over creation of heavenly bodies being after the creation of light.

There are many plausible explanations regarding the second dispute since there are many uncertain variables regarding circumstances surrounding creation. The purpose of the Biblical account is not an exact scientific record, but an exact record of who we, humans, are, how we came to be, and why we came to be.
7. On what day did God divide the light from the darkness?

Answer: first

There are two areas of division God institutes in the days of creation. The first is listed here as the division of light and darkness. The second is the division of the waters on earth from those above which refers to the creation of the heavens, or sky.

This would refer to water molecules suspended in the air much as clouds are today. I don't believe this refers to clouds as we know of today because the biblical account specifically says that there was no rain at that time and the ground received water from dew rising up from subterranean lakes.
8. Which is not a reason given for the sun, moon, and stars being made?

Answer: for them to be worshiped

The sun, moon, and stars were created for the benefit of mankind. The heavenly bodies, especially the sun and moon, are of integral importance in everyday life on earth. The main idea is not to focus on the sun, moon, and stars, but to focus and give thanks to God for providing them for us.
9. Which day did God say was very good?

Answer: sixth

God said very good on the 6th day after seeing all that He made because now His creation was complete. Everything was there and fit together perfectly.
10. In what state was the earth prior to the six days of creation?

Answer: formless and void

The earth was nothing but a rock in space until God began His work of creation.
