Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. This man worked for the Pharaoh and ended up in prison with Joseph. He told Joseph of his dream and Joseph predicted that in three days the man would be hanged. What job did this man have?

Answer: baker

You can read about the baker in chapter 40 of Genesis. In his dream he dreamed that he had three baskets of bread and the birds came down and ate them. Joseph's interpretation was that in three days he'd be hanged and the birds would eat his flesh.
2. What job is mentioned by description in Genesis 11:3?

Answer: brickmaker

It says in Genesis 11:3, "And they said one to another, Go to, let us make brick, and burn them thoroughly. And they had brick for stone, and slime had they for mortar." Earlier in chapter 10 we see that the "they" the verse refers to is Noah's family.
3. What occupation did the man who received a good dream interpretation from Joseph have?

Answer: butler

We can read about his dream in chapter 40 of Genesis as well. He dreamed he was crushing grapes into wine. Joseph told him that in three days he'd go back to being a butler.
4. What job did Jesus have before he started his ministry?

Answer: carpenter

It says in Mark 6:3, "Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, the brother of James, and Joses, and of Judah, and Simon? and are not his sisters here with us? And they were offended at him." Joseph, Jesus' step-father was also a carpenter. Jesus began his ministry when he was about 30 years old.
5. In I Samuel, the Philistines asked for advice from these two professionals. What were they?

Answer: priests and diviners

It says in I Samuel 6:2, "And the Philistines called for the priests and the diviners, saying, What shall we do to the ark of the Lord? tell us wherewith we shall send it to his place." A diviner is a person who is told the future by a god so they can share with others.
6. What job did Hilkiah have?

Answer: high priest

It says in II Kings 22:4, "Go up to Hilkiah the high priest, that he may sum the silver which is brought into the house of the Lord, which the keepers of the door have gathered of the people." Hilkiah's name means, "God's Portion" (Holman Illustrated Pocket Bible Dictionary). A high priest is the one who's in charge of the temple.
7. What job did Agrippa have?

Answer: king

It says in Acts 25:24, "And Festus said, King Agrippa, and all men which are here present with us, ye see this man, about whom all the multitude of the Jews have dealt with me, both at Jerusalem, and also here, crying that he ought not to live any longer." King Agrippa was king of Judah in the 1st century AD.
8. When Mary goes to the tomb of Jesus she is weeping because she thinks he's missing. Jesus asks her "Woman why weepest thou?" (John 20:15a). Who does Mary think Jesus is?

Answer: gardener

It says in John 20:15, "Jesus saith unto her, Woman, why weepest thou? whom seekest thou? She, supposing him to be the gardener, saith unto him, Sir, if thou have borne him hence, tell me where thou hast laid him, and I will take him away." Mary is still mourning the loss of her Savior but when she finds out he's not in the tomb because He has risen she is very happy.
9. Who was the tax collector?

Answer: Matthew

Matthew was also known as Levi. You can read about Matthew being a tax collector in Matthew 10:3.
10. What was David's job before he became king?

Answer: shepherd

You can read about David in the book of I Samuel. Before David became King he also was the one who defeated Goliath.

"1 Samuel 17:
34 But David said to Saul, "Your servant used to keep his father's sheep, and when a lion or a bear came and took a lamb out of the flock, 35 I went out after it and struck it, and delivered the lamb from its mouth; and when it arose against me, I caught it by its beard, and struck and killed it. 36 Your servant has killed both lion and bear; and this uncircumcised Philistine will be like one of them, seeing he has defied the armies of the living God." 37 Moreover David said, "The Lord, who delivered me from the paw of the lion and from the paw of the bear, He will deliver me from the hand of this Philistine."

As David was willing to defend the flock of sheep from the lion and the bear, thus God determined that he would be willing to defend the flock of Israel from any foe, whether he be Goliath or otherwise. (Thank you to editor LeoDaVinci for this extra info)
