Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. This tribe did not receive land on the east side of the river Jordan.

Answer: What is Judah?

Joshua 1:12-15. They desired this land because it was very fertile but in order to receive it they had to send their armed men over the Jordan river to help the rest of the tribes drive out the inhabitants of Canaan.
2. This is what was used to hide the spies on Rahab's roof.

Answer: What were stalks of flax?

Joshua 2:6 When the king of Jericho heard that the spies had been to Rahab's house he sent men looking for them. Rahab, who knew that the Israelites were going to conquer the land decided to side with the Israelites helped the spies to elude capture. Because of this she was spared the destruction of the city and she and her family were incorporated into the Israelite nation. Rahab is one of five women listed in Matthew's genealogy of Jesus. 3. This is the place that the Israelites camped after crossing the Jordan River.

Answer: What is Gilgal?

Joshua 4:19 When the Israelites crossed the Jordan river it was on dry ground, just like when they crossed the Red Sea. This was a sign to the Israelites that the Lord was with Joshua just as he had been with Moses. Shittim was where they crossed from, Jericho was the city they had to conquer first and Zaretan was a city which was farther north.
4. This is the feast that the Israelites celebrated right after they crossed over the Jordan river.

Answer: What is Passover?

Unfortunately for him and the Israelites the Lord had decreed that everything in Jericho was to be destroyed. Because of this sin the Israelites lost the first battle against the tiny little town of Ai. After punishing Achan and his family (they were all stoned to death) the Israelites were able to conquer Ai.
7. The inhabitants of this city tricked Joshua into making a treaty of peace with them.

Answer: What is Gibeon?

Joshua 9:3-15 These people were scared of the Israelites. They put on a charade to make the Israelites think that they were from a far away land. When Joshua found out about the trickery he made them to be hewers of wood and drawers of water for the congregation.
