Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Which king of Israel tore a prophet's robe?

Answer: Saul

In 1 Samuel 15:27-28 of the New International Version, Saul and Samuel were in sharp conflict because Saul had rejected the word of the Lord. Saul begged Samuel to forgive him and to come back with him, so that he could worship the Lord. But Samuel would not go. "As Samuel turned to leave, Saul caught hold of the hem of his robe, and tore it." This was to signify that the Lord had torn the kingdom of Israel away from Saul and given it to one of his neighbours.
2. Who spoke these words? "The Lord does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart."

Answer: The Lord

Samuel came to Jesse to anoint one of his sons to become king of Israel. "When they arrived, Samuel saw Eliab and thought, 'Surely the Lord's anointed stands here before the Lord.' But the Lord said to Samuel, 'Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him.

The Lord does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.'" 1 Samuel 16:-7 (NIV)
3. In the book of Acts, of whom were these words spoken? "A man full of God's grace and power, did great wonders and miraculous signs among the people."

Answer: Stephen

"Now Stephen, a man full of God's grace and power, did great wonders and miraculous signs among the people. Opposition arose, however, from members of the Synagogue of the Freedmen." Acts 6:8-9 (NIV). Eventually Stephen was accused of blasphemy against Moses and stoned to death, becoming the first Christian martyr.
4. After David had killed and beheaded Goliath, where did he take the giant's head?

Answer: Jerusalem

When the Philistines saw that Goliath was dead, they turned and ran. The Israelites pursued them to the entrance of Gath. "When the Israelites returned from chasing the Philistines, they plundered their camp. David took the Philistine's head and brought it to Jerusalem, and he put the Philistine's weapons in his own tent." 1 Samuel 17:50-54 (NIV)
5. Which one of these Old Testament prophets is quoted in Romans?

Answer: Hosea

Romans 9:25 quotes, "I will call them 'my people' who are not my people; and I will call her 'my loved one' who is not my loved one." (Hosea 2:23)

Romans 9:26 quotes, "It will happen in that very place where it was said to them, 'You are not my people,' they will be called 'sons of the living God.'" (Hosea 1:10)
6. How many terrorists was Paul accused of leading into the desert?

Answer: Four thousand

Some Jews from the province of Asia seized Paul and accused him of bringing Egyptians into the temple area. "As the soldiers were about to take Paul into the barracks, he asked the commander, 'May I say something to you?' 'Do you speak Greek?' he replied. 'Aren't you the Egyptian who started a revolt and led four thousand terrorists out into the desert sometime ago?'" Acts 21:38 (NIV)
7. Which Prophet spoke these words? "What then is this bleating of the sheep in my ears?"

Answer: Samuel

1 Samuel 15:14 of the New International Version tells us that Saul disobeyed the Lord concerning the Amalekites, for the Lord had ordered that everything that belonged to them, be totally destroyed. But Saul spared the king and the sheep, cattle and everything that was good.

He told Samuel that he had carried out the Lord's instructions, but Samuel said, "What then is this bleating of the sheep in my ears?" So the Lord rejected Saul as king of Israel, and Samuel did not see Saul again for as long as he lived.
8. How many Philistine foreskins did David give to Saul for his daughter's hand in marriage?

Answer: Two hundred

King Saul asked David to bring him one hundred Philistine foreskins as payment for his daughter Michal in marriage. "David and his men went out and killed two hundred Philistines. He brought their foreskins and presented the full number to the king so that he might become the king's son in law. Then Saul gave him his daughter Michal in marriage." 1 Samuel 18:27 (NIV)
9. Which city of Cyprus was the first to hear the word of God from Saul and Barnabas?

Answer: Salamis

The Holy Spirit set Saul and Barnabas apart to do the work that he had called them for. "The two of them, sent on their way by the Holy Spirit, went down to Seleucia and sailed from there to Cyprus. When they arrived at Salamis, they proclaimed the word of God in the Jewish synagogues." Acts 13:4-5
10. In the book of Revelation, who gave the seven angels, the seven golden bowls of the wrath of God?

Answer: One of the living creatures

The book of Revelation 15:7 of the New International Version, tells us that John saw that the temple was opened, and out of the temple came seven angels with seven plagues. "Then one of the four living creatures gave to the seven angels seven golden bowls filled with the wrath of God, who lives forever and ever."
