This was during Peter's speech to onlookers after he (through the power of Jesus) healed a crippled beggar at the "temple gate called Beautiful." (Acts 3)

Answer: Luke

John the Baptist answered those who thought that he might be the promised messiah. He is instead the prophet who is preparing the way for the coming of Christ.
