Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Scripture tells of Adam and Eve being the parents of Cain, Abel and Seth as well as other sons and daughters who are not named.

Answer: True

True. In addition to Cain, Abel and Seth, Adam and Eve were the parents of a number of other sons and daughters who are not named in Scripture. Genesis 5:4 simply states after Seth was born, Adam had other sons and daughters. The following verse states Adam lived to be nine hundred and thirty years, so the number of children he had could've been substantial. No information is given in Scripture as to how long Eve lived.
2. Korah was a staunch ally of Moses and played a key role in opposing dissenters of his rule.

Answer: False

False. Korah was anything but a staunch ally of Moses. In fact he was a vehement opponent. Numbers 16:31-34 tells of Korah, along with Dothan and Abioram, leading a full-scale revolt against Moses. According to Scripture, the opponents were struck down in a case of divine retribution when the earth opened up and swallowed them.
3. According to Scripture, Samson and Delilah were the parents of three sons and three daughters.

Answer: False

False. There is no mention in Scripture of Samson and Delilah having any children. In fact, there is no mention of Samson having any children with the other women with which he was romantically involved. Samson, of course, ended up being betrayed by his lover Delilah and became a prisoner of the Philistines.
4. Samuel, the last judge of Israel, had two sons who were corrupt.

Answer: True

True. Samuel, the last judge of Israel, was the father of Joel and Abijah and they were as crooked as a barrel of fishhooks. 1 Samuel 8:3 tells of Samuel's sons participating in dishonest gain, taking bribes, and perverting justice.

To the consternation of the people, Samuel appointed his two sons as his replacements as judge. Samuel's move would change the course of history. Scripture goes on to tell of the Israelites demanding the end of being represented by judges and the installation of a monarchy "like all the nations".
5. Mary Magdalene was the sister of Judas Iscariot.

Answer: False

False. There is no mention in Scripture about Mary Magdalene being the sister of anyone, let alone Judas Iscariot. The only relative of Judas mentioned in Scripture is his father Simon, as per John 6:71. According to Luke 8:2, Jesus healed Mary Magdalene of evil spirits and infirmities when he drove seven demons out of her.
6. Barnabas and John Mark, the man credited with writing the Gospel of Mark, were cousins.

Answer: True

True. Barnabas and Jonn Mark, the man credited with writing the Gospel of Mark, were cousins, as per Colossians 4:10. Both were workers in the early church, although a rift had developed between Paul, the apostle to the Gentiles, and John Mark, as per Acts 15:36-41.
7. Paul, the apostle to the Gentiles, worked for a time as a tentmaker.

Answer: True

True. Paul worked as a tentmaker alongside Priscilla and Aquila, two workers in the early church. Details can be found in Acts 18:1-3. Priscilla and Aquila were a husband-wife who labored as missionaries alongside Paul and others.
8. Matthew is the only Gospel that tells of the resurrection of Jesus.

Answer: False

False. All four Gospels -- Matthew, Mark, Luke and John -- tell of the resurrection of Jesus. In all four Gospels, it states Jesus rose from the dead three days after He was crucified. Incidentally, Matthew is the only Gospel that tells of dead people coming back to life when Jesus was crucified. See Matthew 27:52-53 for details.
9. In the order of appearance, Luke is the fourth Gospel in the New Testament.

Answer: False

False. In the order of appearance, Luke is the third Gospel of the New Testament. It appears after the Gospels of Matthew and Mark and before the Gospel of John. Luke, a physician and worker in the early church, is credited with writing the Gospel of Luke as well as the Book of Acts.
10. Nowhere in the Bible does it mention the number of wise men, or magi, who visited baby Jesus.

Answer: True

There is no mention in the Bible about the number of wise men, or magi, who visited baby Jesus. It is believed there were three wise man as the baby Jesus received three different gifts -- gold, frankincense, and myrrh. Details of their visit are found in Matthew 2:1-12.

Tradition, however, holds the three wise men were named Balthasar, Melchior and Gaspar.
