Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Let's start things off with what should be an easy one. Genesis 37:3 in the NKJV states Jacob had a son he loved more than all his children and he made him "a tunic of many colors." What was the name of his favorite son?

Answer: Joseph

Jacob had twelve sons and one daughter but Joseph was clearly his favorite. Genesis 37:3 states Jacob made "a tunic of many colors" and gave it to Joseph, his son who was born when he was elderly. Scripture goes on to tell of Joseph's brothers being immensely jealous of him and ending up selling him into slavery when he was seventeen years old.
2. According to Judges 8:30 in the NKJV, a noted judge of Israel had seventy sons "for he had many wives." What was the name of the judge who had many wives?

Answer: Gideon

Judges 8:30 in the NKJV states Gideon, a noted judge of Israel, had seventy sons. "who were his own offspring, for he had many wives." There is no mention about how many daughters he had and no number is given for the number of wives.

Gideon was also known as Jerubbaal, and his exploits are documented in Judges 6 to 8.

For the record, Samuel had two sons and there is no mention in Scripture about Tola and Samson having any children.
3. 2 Kings 9:22 in the NKJV tells of Jehu encountering Joram and stating there can be no peace "as long as the harlotries of your mother... and her witchcraft are so many." What is the name of the woman Jehu was referring to?

Answer: Jezebel

Jehu was referring to Jezebel, generally regarded as the most wicked woman in the Bible. Jezebel and her husband were vehement opponents of Elijah and other prophets of God and led Israel in worshipping false gods. In 2 Kings 9:22, Jehu is quoted as saying there can be no peace "as long as the harlotries of your mother Jezebel and her witchcraft are so many."

A short while later, Jezebel would be slain when her assistants tossed her out of an upper window and she was trampled by horses.

See 2 Kings 9:30-37 for details.
4. Old Testament Scripture tells of a king throwing a spectacular celebration for his officials and servants to show "the riches of his glorious kingdom and the splendor of his excellent majesty for many days, one hundred and eighty days in all." Who was the king who had such a lavish party for so many days?

Answer: Ahasuerus

The spectacular celebration, which lasted "for many days, one hundred and eighty days in all," was thrown by Ahasuerus, king of Persia, as per Esther 1:4 in the NKJV. (In the NIV, Ahasuerus is known as Xerxes.)

It was during the spectacular celebration that Vashti refused the king's demand to parade before a gathering of men to show her beauty. Vashti ended up being disposed and the stage was set for Esther to become queen.
5. Luke 2:34 tells of an elderly man seeing the baby Jesus and then telling His mother Mary, "Behold, this Child is destined for the fall and rising of many in Israel." Who made the statement about Jesus being responsible for the fall and rising of many?

Answer: Simeon

Simeon is the correct answer. According to Luke 2:25-35, Simeon had been told by the Holy Spirit he would not die until he saw the Consolation of Israel, or the arrival of the Messiah.

In Verses 29 and 30 in the NKJV, Simeon is quoted as telling God he was prepared to die, "for my eyes have seen Your salvation."

Simeon is mentioned in only Luke 2 and no where else in the Bible.
6. The following quote, containing, the word 'many', is from Matthew 7:13 in the NKJV: "Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it." Who made the statement?

Answer: Jesus

To put the verse in context, here's how Matthew 7:13-14 reads in the NKJV: "Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it."

The Gospel of Matthew was written by Matthew, also known as Levi, and a member of the original Twelve Disciples.
7. 2 Corinthians 6:10 in the NKJV is another verse that contains the word 'many'. It reads in part this way: "Yet always rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich; as having nothing, and yet possessing all things." Who is credited with writing 2 Corinthians?

To put the verse in context, here's how Revelation 1:14-16 reads in the NKJV: "His head and hair were white like wool, as white as snow, and His eyes like a flame of fire; His feet were like fine brass, as if refined in a furnace, and His voice as the sound of many waters; He had in His right hand seven stars, out of His mouth went a sharp two-edged sword, and His countenance was like the sun shining in its strength."
