This is not completely the same event as it was in Bruce Almighty, but does have similarities.

Yes, it is. Jonah ran away from God and didn't perform his will, and due to that, his life doesn't go according to his plans. But when he follows God's plan, his life falls into place. The same happened with Bruce.
