Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. After Naaman was cured of leprosy, Elisha found me guilty of lying and I ended up being struck with leprosy. Who am I?

Answer: Gehazi

Yes, Gehazi is the correct answer. It's a long story, but after Naaman was cured of leprosy he offered Elisha a reward which the prophet declined. Scripture reports Gehazi caught up with Naaman after his departure and asked to receive a talent of silver and two sets of clothing. Naaman promptly responded to Gehazi's request, giving him two talents of silver and two sets of clothing. Later, Gehazi would deny his actions to Elisha and after he left the prophet's presence, Scripture reports he was leprous, as white as snow.

The account of Gehazi being afflicted with leprosy is found in 2 Kings 5:20-27.
2. I had a mad plan to have all the Jews exterminated in the vast area ruled by the king who is known as Xerxes in the NIV Bible, but I was thwarted by Queen Esther and her cousin Mordecai. Who am I?

Answer: Haman

The evil man with the plan to exterminate all the Jews was Haman, as reported in the book of Esther. However, he was thwarted by Queen Esther and her cousin Mordecai. In a classic case of what-goes-around, comes-around, Haman ended up being executed by hanging from the very gallows he had constructed for the execution of Mordecai. According to Wikipedia, Haman was a descendant of Agag, the king of the Amalekites, a people who were defeated by King David.
3. I was one of three friends of Job and when we first saw him after all the troubles that had come upon him, we could hardly recognize him. My friends and I ripped our clothes and broke down crying and then we sat with Job and didn't say a word for seven days and seven nights. Who am I?

Answer: Eliphaz

The correct answer is Eliphaz, the Temanite. He visited Job with Bildad the Shuhite and Zophar the Naamathite, as per Job 2:11. According to Wikipedia, Eliphaz probably means 'God of gold'. There was a fourth man, Elihu son of Barakel the Buzite, of the family of Ram.

However, he is not mentioned in the arrival of the trio. His name first appears in chapter 32 and he ends up being a major part of the dialogue.
4. I was the first born child of David and Bathsheba, the result of an adulterous affair. Shortly after birth I died. Who am I?

Answer: No name is given

No name is given for the child whose birth is first mentioned in 2 Samuel 11:27. His death is mentioned in 2 Samuel 12:18. The death had been forecast by Nathan the prophet, as per 2 Samuel 12:14. In addition to committing adultery with Bathsheba, David was guilty of making arrangements to have her husband Uriah killed in battle.
5. I was an Israelite taken into exile in Babylon and was given the name Belteshazzar. I gained a reputation for interpreting dreams and wrote one of the books of the Old Testament. Who am I?

Answer: Daniel

Daniel assumed the name Belteshazzar while three other Jewish men were re-named, as per Daniel 1:7. As a result, Hananiah became known as Shadrach while Mishael became known as Meshach and Azariah as Abednego. According to Wikipedia, Daniel means 'God is my judge.' The name Belteshazzar, of course, is not to be confused with Belshazzar, a king whose name appears in the fifth chapter of Daniel. According to Scripture, the fingers on an unattached hand started writing a message on the wall after King Belshazzar hosted a lavish banquet in which he, his wives and his concubines drank from goblets taken from the temple of God in Jerusalem.
6. I was the Egyptian who purchased Joseph and he became my slave. Who am I?

Answer: Potiphar

According to Genesis 37:36, Joseph was sold as a slave to Potiphar, one of the Pharaoh's officials and captain of the guard. Genesis 39:4 reports Potiphar liked Joseph and put him in charge of his household, entrusting "his care everything he owned." Things would change dramatically, however, when Potiphar's wife falsely accused Joseph of attempted rape and he was tossed into prison.
7. I was the first grandchild of Adam and Eve. Who am I?

Answer: Enoch

Enoch is the first reported offspring of Adam and Eve's children. Enoch's name appears in Genesis 4:17. The 18th verse goes on to state "to Enoch was born Irad, and Irad was the father of Mehujael, and Mehujael was the father of Methushael, and Methushael was the father of Lamech."
8. I pretended to be the sister of my husband Abram to spare his life when we lived in Egypt. Who am I?

Answer: Sarai

The correct answer is Sarai, who later became known Sarah and her husband as Abraham. The ruse took place while they were forced to move to Egypt due to a famine. Notes in the NIV Study Bible state "if Pharaoh were to add Sarai to his harem while knowing she was Abram's wife, he would have to kill Abram first." Scripture states Sarai was "very beautiful" and reports of her beauty reached the Pharaoh.
9. I was a minor prophet and am credited with writing the shortest book in the Old Testament. Who am I?

Answer: Obadiah

The correct answer is Obadiah, a book consisting of only one chapter. According to Wikipedia, Obadiah means "servant (or worshipper) of the Lord". He is one of the twelve minor prophets in the Old Testament.
10. I was a king of the Babylonians and Scripture reports I ended up eating grass like an ox just like how the prophet Daniel said I would. Who am I?

Answer: Nebuchadnezzar

The fourth chapter of Daniel is largely devoted to Daniel the prophet telling Nebuchadnezzar about a dream he had about the dreadful fate that awaited him. Daniel 4:33, in the NIV Bible reports: "Immediately what had been said about Nebuchadnezzar was fulfilled.

He was driven away from people and ate grass like the ox. His body was drenched with the dew of heaven until his hair grew like the feathers of an eagle and his nails like the claws of a bird."
