Answer: Pilate

Jesus made the statement to Pilate, governor of Judea, as per John 18:36. According to Scripture, He appeared before Pilate after being arrested in the Garden of Gethsemane. The appearance before Pilate would end in a decision to crucify Jesus.

Jesus made the statement "My kingdom is not of this world," in an exchange with the Roman governor. See John 18:33-36 for details. Scripture goes on to tell of Jesus being humiliated, beaten, scourged and crucified only to rise from the dead three days later.
6. "Today salvation has come to this house, because he also is a son of Abraham; for the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost." (Luke 19:9)

Answer: Zacchaeus

According to Scripture, Jesus made the statement to Zacchaeus, the chief tax collector of Jericho. Zacchaeus, of course, was the diminutive man who climbed up into a sycamore tree to get a better look at Jesus as He passed through town. When Jesus spotted Zacchaeus in the tree, Scripture states He invited him to come down and meet with Him and they had a lively conversation.

It was during that conversation Jesus made the statement, "today salvation has come to this house, because he also is a son of Abraham; for the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost." See Luke 19:1-9 for details.
7. "I say to you, arise, take up your bed, and go to your house." (Mark 2:11)

Answer: Unnamed paralytic

Jesus made the statement to an unnamed paralytic, as per Mark 2:11. According to Scripture, the paralytic was let down on his stretcher by four men who had made a hole in the roof of the house where Jesus was speaking to a large number of people. Mark 2:5 states that Jesus was impressed by their faith, and He said to the paralytic, "Son, your sins are forgiven you." When He made that statement, the Pharisees were livid, claiming only God can forgive sins. Jesus responded by stating He had the authority to forgive sins and then commanded the paralyzed man to arise. To the amazement of everyone in the house, the paralyzed man did just that! See Mark 2:1-12 for details.
8. "Behold, an Israelite indeed, in whom is no deceit!" (John 1:47)

Answer: Nathanael

Jesus made the statement to Nathanael, one of the original Twelve Disciples, as per John 1:47. In the Gospels of Matthew, Mark and Luke, Nathanael is known as Bartholomew. According to John 1:45-46, Philip had invited Nathanael to meet with Jesus. When Jesus saw Nathanael approaching Him, he made the statement, "Behold, an Israelite indeed, in whom is no deceit."

A few moments later, Nathanael would make the famous declaration, "Rabbi, You are the Son of God! You are the King of Israel!" Going strictly by Scripture, Nathanael was the first disciple to make the declaration that Jesus was the Son of God.
9. "Go your way; your faith has made you well." (Mark 10:52)

Answer: Bartimaeus

Jesus made the statement to Bartimaeus after He restored his sight. The statement is found in Mark 10:52. According to Scripture, Jesus encountered Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus in Jericho. Details about Jesus restoring the sight of the blind beggar can be found in Mark 10:47-52.
10. "Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God." (John 3:3)

Answer: Nicodemus

Jesus made the famous statement to Nicodemus, a Pharisee, who had a one-on-one meeting with Him at night. There is considerable conjecture as to why Nicodemus visited Jesus at night. One school of thought has it that Nicodemus didn't want it to be known that as a teacher of the law, he had any interest in Jesus' teachings as Christ was often surrounded by tax collectors and the dregs of society. Another school of thought has it Nicodemus had no choice but to visit Jesus at night if he wanted a one-on-one meeting because Christ was always surrounded by large crowds in the day time.

In John 3:3, Jesus tells Nicodemus, "Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God." Then in Verse 16, Jesus makes the famous declaration: "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life." It's that statement which has become a pillar of the evangelical Christian movement.
