1. Which is the longest muscle in the human body?

Answer: sartorius

Named after the tailor, who traditionally sits cross-legged, sartorius flexes the knee and the hip.
2. From which spinal nerves does the entire sympathetic outflow arise?

Answer: T1 - L2

The sympathetic outflow is only from these 14 pairs of spinal nerves, although the sympathetic chain runs the whole length of the spinal cord and distributes sympathetic activity to all parts of the body
3. Which nerve does a dentist have to anaesthetise while extracting a tooth from the lower jaw?

Answer: inferior alveolar nerve

The inferior alveolar nerve is a branch of the mandibular nerve (CN V), you can feel where it enters the jaw by putting your finger on the inside of your back tooth, then going down about 1cm to feel a little ridge.
4. What is the order food passes along the digestive tract?

Answer: jejunum, ileum, ascending colon, transverse colon, descending colon, sigmoid colon

5. Which nerve innervates the diaphragm?

Answer: phrenic nerve

The phrenic provides motor innervation to the diaphragm, and sensory innervation to the pleura, pericardium and the peritoneum.
6. Which of these structures is found in the cerebellum?

Answer: dentate nucleus

The dentate nucleus is one of three small processing nuclei in each hemisphere of the cerebellum, so called because of its jagged outline on histological sections.
7. The so-called pelvic floor is comprised of which functional group of muscles?

Answer: levator ani

8. Compression of which nerve in the carpal tunnel is referred to as carpal tunnel syndrome?

Answer: median nerve

The median nerve supplies sensation to the thumb side of the palm and fingers, and several small muscles in the hand.
9. The major blood supply to the arm is the continuation of the axillary artery, what is it called?

Answer: brachial artery

The brachiocephalic trunk supplies the head and arm, as the name implies, it gives rise to the common carotid and subclavian (on the left these arteries arise directly from the aortic arch). The subclavian is continuous with the axillary artery which is continuous with the brachial artery which supplies the arm, splitting into it's terminal branches the ulnar and radial arteries just distal to the elbow joint.
10. Which cranial nerve provides the sensory input for the gag reflex?

Answer: glossopharyngeal nerve

The glossopharyngeal nerve is sensory to the mucosa of the oropharynx, as well as the posterior third of the tongue.
