Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. So you want to surf the web and know you need to choose an internet browser to get online. Which of the following options is not an internet browser?

Answer: Microsoft Excel

Microsoft Excel is a computer program that allows you make spreadsheets, not access the internet. Other internet browsers include Safari and Opera.
2. Now you are online and have successfully navigated yourself to Funtrivia where you take several spectacular quizzes. You want to post a link to one of these quizzes on the social media website that is represented by the blue bird, but can't remember its name. What website is this?

Answer: Twitter

On Twitter, you can add hashtags like #funtrivia or #awesomequiz so others can find your link to Funtrivia faster. Facebook's logo is white "f" in the blue box. Reddit has a little alien/monkey thing for a logo. Pinterest has a rounded "p" in a red circle.
3. You are still online, but have been away from your computer for a while. You were browsing some news stories on your local paper's website and realize that in the time you were away, new articles have likely appeared. Instead of typing in the domain name again, what button can you hit to make the page reappear with the new content?

Answer: Refresh

Refreshing the page is an easy way to check for news updates without having to type in the domain name all over again. It is usually located right next to the search bar on the top of the screen. You can also hit the F5 button on your keyboard.
4. While on Facebook, you see someone advertising her new vlog. You know what a blog is, but which of the following descriptions best describes a vlog?

Answer: Like a blog but someone is speaking in a video

Vlogs are common on YouTube. Essentially, a blog is a written account about any subject. A vlog is similar, although it features someone who has made a video and orally/visually presents their account or story rather than writing it out.
5. You never get the chance to view the vlog because your best friend just messaged you. He writes "Hey, how u been? CYE, I sent you something funny." You really want to do what he says, but can't because you have no idea what CYE means. You google it and discover it means what?

Answer: Check your email

You check your email and find he just sent you more pictures of cats eating cheeseburgers. How exciting.
6. You decide you have had enough shenanigans online for one sitting and log off. You want to play your favorite computer game, which is this EA series where you can create your own virtual families and run their lives more efficiently than you can your own. What series are you playing?

Answer: The Sims

The Sims made its debut in February 2000. Since then it has had countless expansion packs and versions that each add a new element of fun, new features and difficulty to the game.
7. You finish playing the game and remember you have that ten-page term paper to write before tomorrow morning. You breeze through it and now you need to spellcheck it. Which key can you press, on most PCs, for a spellcheck shortcut?

Answer: F7

F7 is traditionally the spellcheck button on PCs. In addition to checking for spelling, it also checks for grammar and wordiness among other things.
8. You have written a paper for your professor and you decide it will be easier to email it to him. While writing the email, what symbol should you click on to add your paper as an attachment?

Answer: Paper Clip

After clicking the paper clip, select the correct document and hit add to attach the paper. You may have to convert your document to a different format if required.
9. Now that that is done, it is time for more games. This card game is designed for one person and is now a popular distraction from work. The name of the game is derived from the French word for lonely. What game is this?

Answer: Solitaire

I quite often find myself distracted by solitaire, particularly by changing the images on the deck of cards. You can find most other card games online for free, but of the four choices, only solitaire is designed for just one person without the need of the computer player.
10. You are finally done fiddling around with the computer and it is time to shut it down. Which is one reason you should you go to start and hit shut down rather than just turn the computer off by flipping the switch?

Answer: Because your computer sometimes installs updates when you shut it down properly

Without the necessary updates, you may find your computer lagging and incompatible with newer software. You will not lose your work if you just flip the switch, as long as you saved it somewhere first.
