The first match of the ODI series was played at Harare sports club which happens to be the main cricketing venue of Zimbabwe. A few matches of WC 2003 have also been played here.

Answer: Zimbabwe and elected to bat

Zimbabwe won the toss and elected to field as they felt the moisture had dried up and would not be a factor. Besides, they did not want their inexperienced batting line up to be under pressure chasing a mammoth Austalian total.

Zimbabwe did not start well as expected, having lost their first wicket of S. Matsikenyeri when the score was 9. He scored 8 runs off 16 balls.

Brendon Taylor scored a well made 59 runs. He, along with Taibu, resurrected the Zimbabwe innings which at one stage was reeling at 64/3 in 23 overs.
