This is one of the most disputed fines in league history. Many think Clemens was not intending to throw the bat in Mike Piazza's direction. What happened was, Piazza fouled off a ball which resulted in a broken bat. Half of the bat came straight to Clemens on the mound. Roger threw the piece of bat in the direction of Piazza. People don't think Clemens did it on purpose because replays show he had his head turned the other way.

However, Clemens was fined {$50,000} by Frank Robinson, in the 2000 World Series.
