This was a season of heart break. In the League Arsenal finished 4th, in the FA cup they lost 1-0 to West Ham, in the final after a replay in round three vs Cardiff, then after one game against Brighton, a replay against Bolton, one game against Watford, and then four tough matches against Liverpool in the semi finals. They reached the final in Brussels where they faced Valencia of Spain. After 120 minutes of drab football the game ended 0-0. Valencia won 5-4 on penalties.
