Babe Ruth was the first to lead the league in homes runs for at least 8 seasons and finished with 12 seasons as the home run leader during his career. Schmidt lead the league 8 times making him the second player to have lead the league in home runs 8 times. Ott led the league 6 times, while Foxx and Aaron were league leaders 4 times each.
