1. How many World Series appearances did manager Gene Mauch have throughout his managerial career of 27 seasons?

Answer: 0

He never made it. The closest that he came was with the 1982 and 1986 with the Angels who finished 1st in their division but were denied in the American League playoffs both times. Mauch managed from 1960 to 1987 with the Phillies, Montreal, Minnesota, and finally the California Angels.
2. What year was the Designated Hitter initiated in the World Series?

Answer: 1976

It was 1976 and Dan Driessen of the Cincinnati Reds was the inaugural winner of the highest World Series DH batting average with a .357 to help the Reds sweep the Yankees.
3. Which of the following players hit into four triple plays throughout their career?

Answer: Brooks Robinson

Amazingly enough, Robinson of the Orioles who holds many batting records for the team along with a suitcase of fielding awards holds this ironic statistic.

Frank Francis Frisch played 19 seasons with the New York Giants and the Cardinals from 1919-1937.
10. Nellie Fox's jersey number of what was retired by the White Sox?

Answer: 2

Fox played 19 seasons from 1947 to 1965 for the Athletics, primarily with the White Sox, and then retired with Houston. This Hall of Famers number was 2.
