Answer: Detroit Tigers

The other teams listed, were National League teams. After starting the season 0-9, the Tigers finally put one in the W column by beating the Chicago White Sox 4-3 on April 12th.
2. 5'8" Yogi Berra hit how many career home runs?

Answer: 358

The compact Berra had the power with a bat. This Yankee catcher and sometimes outfielder smacked 358 in 19 seasons. He won the American League MVP in 1951, 1954, and 1955. All his career games were in a Yankee uniform, except for the 4 with the New York Mets in 1965. He went to an amazing 14 World Series, winning 10 of them.
3. What team played for 45 seasons at Ebbets Field?

Answer: Brooklyn Dodgers

The Dodger franchise played there from 1913-1957. In 1958, the team moved to Los Angeles and the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. After 4 seasons, the Dodgers moved to Chavez Ravine, more commonly known as Dodger Stadium. In the Dodgers' 2nd season in Los Angeles, they won the World Series 4 games to 2 against the Chicago White Sox.

The others listed were all American League players, and never went to even one World Series. Garvey who wore number 6 for the Dodgers, kept the infield in check at first base. In 1974 he hit 21 home runs, had 200 hits along with 111 RBI's, and batted .312. His final 5 seasons were in a Padre uniform.

Answer: 1923

The Yankees did not exist until 1913. In 1923, the Yankees made their 3rd consecutive appearance in the promised land, and finally won it this time, by defeating crosstown rival New York Giants 4 games to 2. Babe Ruth hit 3 home runs to help the Yankees' cause. Gehrig was a rookie in 1923, but did not play in the Series.
6. Who was the first pitcher to walk 200 batters in a season in the 20th century?

Answer: Bob Feller

With all these greats listed, Feller and Nolan Ryan were the only two pitchers to top 200 mark in the 20th century. Ryan did it in 1974 with 202, and 1977 with 204. It was Feller who walked an amazing 208 batters in 1938. 'Rapid Robert' still went 17-11 in the season. Feller pitched all his 18 seasons with the Cleveland Indians.
7. Who was the Cy Young Award named after?

Answer: Denton Young

Denton True 'Cy' Young was a tremendous pitcher in his time. After 22 seasons starting with the Cleveland Spiders in 1880, Young compiled 511 career wins. Five times in his career he won more than 30 games in a season. He once started 49 games in a season, which was common in early baseball.

He led the season with most wins 5 times in his career. Young also appeared in 3 games in the first World Series in 1903, winning 2 of them for the Boston Pilgrims. The first Cy Young Award was given in 1956.

Answer: Seattle Pilots

The Seattle Pilots existed only in 1969. In 1970 the team moved to Milwaukee to become the Brewers. Managed by Joe Schultz, the Pilots finished in last place in the American League Western Division, 33 games back of Division winner Minnesota Twins.

From the Senators of Washington, to Minnesota Twins, and his last season with the Kansas City Royals in 1975, his 573 home runs were big shots. This Hall of Famer hit more than 40 home runs 8 times in his career.

Answer: Chicago White Sox

The other teams listed, were all National League teams. The White Sox under the management of pitcher Clark Griffith, beat the Boston Red Sox by 4 games to win the pennant. The 1901 Milwaukee Brewers (later Baltimore Orioles) finished 35.5 games behind in last place.
