The Racine Belles were the League Champions in the inaugural year for the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League. They were featured, despite a great deal of artistic license, in the 1992 movie "A League of Their Own" which starred Madonna and Tom Hanks. Sophie Kurys stole 166 bases in 1944, more than any professional male baseball player in a single season.
