1. When is Brian's birthday?

Answer: October 24, 1983

2. What does Brian always take to the race track and keep in car on race day?

Answer: the hat Adam Petty gave to him

Brian and Adam Petty were really good friends. Adam died in a practice test at Loudon in 2000. Brian always takes this hat with him to the race track and puts it in his car on race day. Brian thought he lost the hat or someone stole it at the Homestead-Miami Speedway the last race of the season. He found it eventually at his home.

Answer: False

Brian turned 20 in October 2003, and was still single.
4. How old was he when he won the Busch Series Championship?

Answer: 20

He was the youngest driver to win the championship in any three of NASCAR's top three divisions (NEXTEL Cup, Busch Series, and Truck Series). He won the first Busch championship for Hendrick Motorsports. He won the title by a mere 14 points over second place David Green. It went down the last lap of the last race.

6. What rule did they name after him?

Answer: no passing to left on restart

He passed to the left on a restart at Texas in March of 2003, and they named the rule after him after they penalized him. This cost him the race after he dominated most of the race. They later used this rule against Ted Musgrave (NCTS driver) in the season finale at Homestead, and this cost Ted the championship.
7. What year did Brian move up to the NEXTEL Cup?

Answer: 2004

Brian moved up to the #25 car for Hendrick Motorsports in 2004. He raced 5 Cup races before his rookie season! He had some awesome qualifying runs, never qualifying out of the top 4 while driving the 25 car the last 4 races, but he did run the #60 car for HMS at Charlotte in October and qualified 20.
