Born on the 17th of September 1960, Damon was involved in the world of motorsport right from the start as his father, Graham, was a successful racer who in his time won two World Championships, the Indy 500 and Le Mans 24 hours. He has lived in Dublin, Ireland with his wife Georgie and their children for many years.

Graham Hill was a twice-World Champion. They were the first father / son duo to each become F1 champion. Graham was also born in London on February 15th 1929; he died in a light plane crash, near Elstree, England on November 29th 1975. He won his World Championships with BRM in 1962 and Lotus-Ford in 1968.

Although he took part in 122 Grand Prix, starting in 115, he only won 22 of them. His first victory was at Hungarian GP on 15th August 1993 and his last was with the Jordan Team in 1998 in Belgium.

Damon's last race in Formula One was at Suzuka in 1999. Damon started 12th on the grid, but did not finish the race pulling in to the pits on lap 21. His team mate Frentzen came home fourth to take Jordan's point score to 61. Damon scored only 7 championship points that year.

(He had 20 poles in his F1 career.) During the warm-up lap Michael Schumacher over-took him, something, which is forbidden. Schumacher was later black-flagged during a tight battle between the two of them.

Damon won eight of the sixteen Grand Prix that year, taking the title at the last race in Suzuka, Japan. He also had 5 fastest laps and 16 front-row starts (including 9 pole positions).
He scored 97 champion points, with his teammate Jacques Villeneuve coming second with 78 points. Together they won the Constructors Title for Williams with 175 points, Ferrari trailing behind second with only 70 points.

Damon won the title but Frank Williams had secretly decided to fire him at the end of the year. He left and joined Arrows for 1997 season, he nearly won the Hungarian Grand Prix for them, but with 3 laps to go a hydraulic failure caused throttle problems and an inability to change gear.

He was overtaken by Villeneuve on the final lap. It would have been Bridgestone and Arrows' first win. From there he moved to Jordan where he stayed until he retired in 1999.
