Answer: Dale Earnhardt Jr.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. had his his name added to Harley J. Earl trophy in 2004, after starting 1st and leading 57 laps in the race.
2. Who won the Daytona 500 in 1967?

Answer: Mario Andretti

If you thought Richard Petty you are wrong (although it is a very good choice). The winner this year was Mario Andretti believe it or not. Andretti started 12th in the race and led an amazing 112 laps before it was all said and done.
3. Who won the first Daytona 500 in 1959?

Answer: Lee Petty

Well, it took three days to declare who the winner was, but when they did, it was Lee Petty who got the win. Petty started 12th and had only led 38 laps, but led the most important one.

In 1989, it was Darrell Waltrip that won the race. Waltrip started 2nd, led 25, and still had to count on his fuel to carry him to the end.

That year the Daytona 500 title belonged to Bobby Allison. Coming from the farthest back for a Daytona 500 win, 33rd, Allison led 28 laps enroute to the win.
