Santana Moss was drafted by the NY Jets with the 16th pick. The Colts took Reggie Wayne with the 30th pick. The Bengals grabbed Chad Johnson with the 36th pick, and Steve Smith landed in Carolina's lap at pick #74. Other receivers taken later included; Chris Chambers, Robert Ferguson, Justin McCareins, and T.J. Houshmandzadeh. Also available were tight ends Todd Heap and Algie Crumpler.
