Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. I set a record for the shortest time elapsed before earning myself a penalty. I was only 6 seconds into my career before being penalised for the first time. Who am I?

Answer: Sebastian Vettel

Sebastian Vettel (BMW Sauber) was caught speeding in the pits on the 2007 USGP, on the first time out of the pits, in his first Grand Prix.
2. I had the longest gap between two GPs started. It was 10 years before I made my way back to the grid. Who am I?

Answer: Jan Lammers

Jan raced in the 1982 French GP for Theodore (the only time he qualified for the grid in the 1982 season). He'd only be back to the grid in the 1992 Japanese GP, for March. He was linked to continuing with March for the 1993 season, but the team folded.
3. We've won only one Grand Prix when we became World Champion. That was the shortest number of wins in a winning season. Who are we?

Answer: Keke Rosberg & Mike Hawthorn

Hawthorn won the 1958 season for Ferrari, winning only the French GP.
Rosberg won the 1982 season for Williams, winning only the Swiss GP (at Dijon-Prenois).
4. I've been in 14 GPs, and never made it to the grid. It was the most entries without a start. Who am I?

Answer: Claudio Langes

Langes entered all but the last two GPs (Japan & Australia) for EuroBrun.
5. I've started in 63 GPs, but never finished in the points. It was the most races without scoring points. Who am I?

Answer: Luca Badoer

Badoer qualified for 63 GPs for Lola, Minardi, and Ferrari, between 1993 and 2009. He had no championship points.
6. We're the only three Formula 3000 champions never to enter a F1 race. Who are we?

Answer: Jorg Muller, Bruno Junqueira & Bjorn Wirdheim

Muller won the 1996 season for RSM Marko. He later went on to Williams as a test driver and joined BMWs touring car roster. Junqueira won the 2000 season for Petrobras. He also tested for Williams, but lost out to Jenson Button for a race seat. He went on to Champ Cars, where he raced for Chip Ganassi, Newman-Haas, and Dale Coyne.

He was runner-up 3 times. Wirdheim won the 2003 season for Arden. He went on to be Jaguar's reserve driver, and took part in all the Fridays of the 2004 GPs. He was later on Formula Nippon.
7. I've started in 208 GPs but never won. It was the most races for a driver with no wins. Who am I?

Answer: Andrea de Cesaris

de Cesaris raced for a whopping 10 teams in his career, but never won a GP.
Curiously, Heidfeld is the driver who has earned the most points, and still in 2009, never won a GP.
8. I've retired in 14 consecutive GPs. It was the most DNFs in a row. Who am I?

Answer: Ivan Capelli

Capelli (March) went from the 1990 Italian GP to the 1991 German GP, with nothing but DNFs. Reliability was certainly an issue for the Leyton House team.
9. I have the shortest ever F1 career. It only lasted for 800 meters. At least I qualified for the race. Who am I?

Answer: Marco Apicella

Apicella only entered one GP, the 1993 Italian GP for Jordan. He went for about 875 yards before retiring from the race. He was never featured back on the grid again.
10. We've entered 14 GPs, but never managed to qualify one of our cars. We're the team with most GPs entered, that never qualified for the race. Who are we?

Answer: Life

Life entered 14 GPs in the 1990 season. The first two with Aussie Gary Brabham, replaced later by Italian Bruno Giacomelli. They had the revolutionary W12 works engine which was highly unreliable. The team is known by some of the most hilarious stories, from the F1 of the late 1980s and early 1990s, filled by semi-amateur teams and their tales.
