Emilio Camillo Costamagna was the editor for La Gazzetta dello Sport. Emilio saw how well L'Auto did after the success of the Tour de France. He then decided to start a new race, the Giro d'Italia. The main purpose for it was to increase circulation. The La Gazzetta dello Sport was printed on pink paper.
