He was the first goalkeeper to be voted European Player of the Year (in 1963) and retired with a record 150 career penalty saves! He made 79 apperances for his national team and passed away in 1991.

The difference between the true satement and the one mentioned above is that Best said that "... the rest I just squandered." A legendary player, Best was born on 22nd May 22 1946 in Belfast and made history with the colours of Manchester United.
