Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Which team at the 2002 Olympics, featured a forechecking system called the "Torpedo"?

Answer: Sweden

The "Torpedo" is an aggressive forechecking system that sends four players into the offensive zone, which are 3 forwards and an offensive defenceman in the middle, to take pucks away from their opponents. The 5th player, the defensive defenceman stays back to protect from odd man rushes.

The "Torpedo" is something similar to what the Boston Bruins used in the 1970s, where in the Boston Garden, the Bruins would go into the other team's end and slam opponents against the boards to cough up the puck.
2. Before the USA lost to Canada in 2002, when was the last time an American men's hockey team lost on home soil at the Olympics?

Answer: 1932

Before the gold medal game against Canada, the USA were 21-0-4 dating back to 1932. The reign began when they lost 2-1 in overtime to Canada, and ended up with a 4-1-1 record and the silver medal. The USA won the gold at the 1960 winter games in Squaw Valley going a perfect 7-0-0 record, and then the famous "Miracle on Ice" team went 6-0-1 at Lake Placid.

In 2002, the Americans went 4-0-1 before losing to Canada, and wound up with the silver.
3. Which team at the 2002 Olympics had the most success with the least NHL players on it's roster?
