When he switched from go-karting into car racing, he started with the Benelux championship with Formula Opel Lotus cars. After winning it, he made the step to Formula 3; joining the team of Willy Weber; called WTS racing. He won on his debut year the championship, something which resulted him in an invitation to test a Footwork Formula 1 car.

He stood at the podium in the GP of hungary, he did a summersault in his 1st race when Irvine drove into him, his car caught fire at the German GP and it was a miracle Jos only had some minor burn wounds. He didn't have a fight with another driver, the team just replaced Jos for the last 2 races, because they thought the experience of Herbert would secure the constructors championship, something which didn't work; Herbert retired both races.

Although MTV was the main sponsor, the team went bankrupt after 5 races. Philips was Jos 's personal sponsor, XCT was just a sponsor of Simtek, and Marlboro was sponsor of Ferrari; but they became Jos's personal sponsor a year later.

The race was won by Damon Hill and Jos drove his Arrows to a fine 6th place. Jos started the race from a 7th position, and overtook David Coulthard in a faster McLaren car with just 11 laps to go and scored a point.

After a dissapointing year with Arrows in 1996, he joined Mika Salo at Tyrrell in 1997. The year was overshadowed by the weak V8 engines, while most of the other teams were driving with V10 engines.

Jos started from a 16th position, but at the start he couldn't put the car in 1st gear. It did jump in first gear, and then the engine stalled.

Answer: Honda

Honda wanted to have a testyear in 1999, and to compete the other teams in the 2000 season. The testing went very well, and Jos was quicker then almost all others teams. Everything was looking great until 13 April, while the team was testing at the circuit of Barcelona; Harey Postlethwaite died of an heart-attack.

He was seen as the most important link in the team, and one and half months later Honda stopped the project.

Walkinshaw bought the Arrows team during the 1996 season, but he didn't wanted to have Jos as a driver for the next season. In the couple of years he changed his mind and offered the Dutchman a contract for 2000. After the 2000 season he stayed and drove the next year aswell.

Then during the 2001 season, he signed a contract for 2002 at Arrows. But 3 weeks for the start of the season, Walkinshaw ignored Jos's legal contract and approached Frentzen to drive for Arrows.

Jos started the race from a 17th position, and just after 2 corners, he overtook 11 cars; an incredible performance. Some laps later, when it was raining, he started to overtake drivers which had much better cars then his own, he drove the Arrows car to a 2nd position. He finished the race at a 7th position, just outside the points.

Jos drove in the 2003 season for Minardi, he drove the car to the limit, but the car was simply too slow. Some fine moments - were when his Dutch sponsor Trust became main sponsor of Minardi and when he took pole-position on the France GP at the friday qualification.
