Shaun Alexander, the running back for the Seattle Seahawks, finished first overall with 1880 yards. Tiki Barber of the New York Giants was 2nd with 1860 yards rushing. Larry Johnson, a Kansas City Chief, finished a distant third with 1750 rushing yards. Priest Holmes was injured for most of the season and Larry Johnson took over for him in Kansas City. Ladanian Tomlinson from San Diego was 6th with 1462 yards.

After starting 13-0, the Colts lost to the Chargers, yet San Diego still failed to make the playoffs.
