Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Who was the first National Football League team to display a logo or insignia on their helmet?

Answer: Los Angeles Rams

In 1948, Fred Gehrke, one of the Rams' halfbacks, hand-painted yellow ram horns on all the team's helmets. Gehrke was no amateur artist, because he was an industrial designer in the offseason. His trend setting art caught on fast, and by 1962 all but one NFL team sported art on the side of their helmet.
2. What NFL team has never sported a logo of any kind on their helmet?

Answer: Cleveland Browns

Although they did place the player's uniform number on their helmets in the late 1950s and 1960s, the Browns still have no identifying marks on their helmets.

Answer: Philadelphia Eagles

10. Long known by their lone star logo, what was the original proposed team name for the Dallas Cowboys?

Answer: Steers

For the first few months after its formation, the Dallas franchise was known as the "Steers". This was soon changed to "Rangers" and before the 1960 season, and it was finally settled on to name the team the "Cowboys".
