Jim Thorpe was an incredible athlete. He also played defense and kicker. Thorpe was voted top American athlete of first half of 20th century. He was part of the original NFL Hall of Fame class of 1963.

Grange was a three-time All-American while at the University of Illinois. People called Grange "The Galloping Ghost" for his ghost like speed and elusiveness. Grange's knee injury in 1927 forced him to play defensive back instead of running back. Grange helped the Bears win the championship in 1933, and then he retired after the 1934 season. Grange was also a member of the original NFL Hall of Fame class of 1963.
