Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Which team finished the regular season with the best record?

Answer: Tennessee Titans

The Titans went 13-3 in the season, but suffered a devastating loss in their final game to the Colts, 23-0. The Giants, Panthers, and Steelers all ended the season at 12-4.
2. Which team in 2008 allowed the most points scored against them in the season, reflecting on their poor defense?

Answer: Detroit Lions

The other teams listed didn't give up more than 325 points. The Lions were the only team to allow over 465 points by giving up 517. The next team to accompany this unfortunate season statistic was the St. Louis Rams, who let those 465 opponent points go up on the board.
3. Which team in 2008 began their Super Bowl endeavors by going 10-0 before experiencing a loss?

Answer: Tennessee Titans

The other teams all lost in Week 1 by more than 20 points. Although the Titans failed to shutout any team in the season, they were balanced enough to win their first 10 games. They finally lost at the hands of Brett Favre and the New York Jets in Week 12, 34-13. Tennessee finished off the season at 13-3.
4. Only one team in the 2008 season never lost a home game. Which team went a perfect 8-0 in the season at home?

Answer: Carolina Panthers

The others listed all lost three games at home in the season. The Panthers went 12-4, 8-0 at home and 4-4 on the road. At home, their biggest win was in Week 5 against the Chiefs in a 34-0 shutout. The Panthers' worst loss in the season was the following week, a 27-3 loss to the Buccaneers in Tampa Bay.
5. In Week 17, the Dallas Cowboys held their own destiny. If they won, they would make the playoffs. If they lost, it would be one of the most embarrassing seasons in recent history. Who enhanced the embarrassment by defeating them 44-6 to end their hopes?

Answer: Philadelphia Eagles

In a really embarrassing game, the Cowboys didn't show up, offensively or defensively. The Dallas team was down 27-3 by halftime, then lost it all 44-6. The Cowboys lost four fumbles, had one intercepted, and rushed for less than 90 yards. The Cowboys finished their dismal season at 9-7.
6. Four teams could not pull off more than one win on the road in the season. They were the Detroit Lions, Kansas City Chiefs, St. Louis Rams, and which other team?

Answer: Cincinnati Bengals

The other teams all won four games on the road. The Bengals went 4-11-1, and their tie game against the Eagles in Week 11 on November 16th at home was not just controversial, but left the Eagles looking rather dumb. The Bengals went 1-7 on the road. Their biggest road loss was to the Colts 35-3.
7. Winning games in your own division is a pretty important part of a team's season, deciding the division championship, wildcard berths, etc. Only two teams in the 2008 season went undefeated in their division. One team was the Pittsburgh Steelers in the AFC North. Which other team went undefeated in their division?

Answer: Arizona Cardinals

The other teams all lost two games to their division opponents. The Cardinals finished the season at 9-7, and to help them get to the NFC Western Division Championship, they defeated the 49ers, Rams, and Seahawks two times each.
8. Five teams finished off the 2008 season by scoring over 400 points. Only one of those teams had a losing record. Which team was it?

Answer: Green Bay Packers

All the teams listed had a losing record and didn't come close to scoring 400 points except for the Packers, who scored 419 points while going 6-10. The top five teams in scoring were the Saints (8-8) with 463, the Giants (12-4) with 427, the Packers (6-10) with 419, the Panthers (12-4) with 414, and the Patriots (11-5) with 410.
9. Which team went 1-15 in 2007, then turned it all around to go 11-5 and win their division championship for a berth to the 2008 playoffs?

Answer: Miami Dolphins

Under the helm of head coach Cam Cameron, the Dolphins embarrassed the franchise by going only 1-15 in 2007. With the new general manager of Bill Parcells, the team went a more than respectable 11-5. Of the other 2008 teams listed, the Colts went 12-4, the Jets at 9-7, and the Browns at 4-12.
10. Which team in 2008 finished the season with the worst record?

Answer: Detroit Lions

Except for the Lions, the other three won eight games. The Lions were almost destined to lose all their games, but after going 0-14, had their hopes high in Week 16 and 17. Unfortunately they lost to the Saints 42-7, then 31-21 against the Packers. They finished the season in the record books at 0-16.

Their head coach was fired the following morning. They were the worst team in NFL history since the Tampa Bay Buccaneers went 0-14 in 1976.
