Chance was the team's captain in 1913, when the Highlanders became the Yankees. He held the title for one season. Roger Peckinpaugh was the second Yankee captain, he held the title from 1914 to 1921. Babe Ruth was the third Yankee captain, but he held the title for just 5 days in 1922.

Elston Howard batted .348 and had a .993 fielding percentage in 1961. He was also a nine-time all-star.
