After the devastating loss of his son, and grandson of King Richard Petty, Kyle who owned the team, began driving the Brawny sponsored Dodge. In 2001, Kyle had 24 starts with no top ten finishes. Always being involved with charities, Kyle was named True Value Hardware, "Man of the Year", and was named NASCAR Winston Cup Illustrated's "Person of the Year" in 1999. Both honors were for his charity work.

Answer: Darrell Waltrip

None of the others drove with 11 on their roof. Waltrip made the green Gatorade sponsored car a household name. In 1981, Darrell won 12 races to finish in the top spot, then won another 12 with the same results in 1982. 1983 saw him finish the points battle in second place, before winning the championship again in 1985.
3. Before taking the reins of the number 2 Roger Penske owned car, which number did Rusty Wallace have on his roof?

Rusty won the Winston Cup Championship in 1989 under the number 27, just 12 points ahead of runner-up Dale Earnhardt. After the 1990 season, Rusty was cohersed by team owner Roger Penske to drive his number 2. 1993 took both Wallace and Penske to a second place finish in the Winston Cup standings, ironically being a backseat to Dale Earnhardt. Rusty announced his intentions to retire after the 2005 season.
4. Which 2004 Rookie of the Year took the Nextel Cup season by storm in his number 9 red Dodge?

Answer: Kasey Kahne

Mayfield was Kahne's teammate in his own number 19 Dodge. Kasey was brought up at a young age in racing, beginning with micro-midgets. From there it was on to sprint cars. In his first season, Kahne garnered the USAC Silver Crown Rookie of the Year award.

In 2003, Bill Elliott and owner Ray Everham announced that Kasey would have the ride for the 2004 season. In 2004, he had an amazing 10 top finishes, but just could not get to victory lane.
5. Before Dale Earnhardt took over the legendary number 3, who drove the car for six seasons prior?

Answer: Richard Childress

Childress drove the number 3 from 1976-1981. After Childress had started 25 races in the 1981 season, he turned over the wheel to Dale who ran seven races in the 1981 season. Dale's first Winston race was in the 1975 World 600, where he finished 22nd in his only race of the season.
6. Which Sprint car driver jumped the fence and drove the number 26 Quaker State car in 1995 for a portion of the season?

Answer: Steve Kinser

After Bret Bodine drove the car for two seasons, Kinser took over the wheel for five starts in 1995. Steve's average finish in those five races was 35th. Kinser was replaced behind the wheel by Hut Stricklin.

Answer: Carl Edwards

Jeff Burton used to drive the Rousch Racing owned number 99 without a major sponsor. He was finally hired to drive for the number 30, AOL sponsored yellow Chevrolet. Jeff left the number 99 driver seat open for Carl Edwards.
8. Which driver took Nascar by storm, and finished third in the number 25 red Folgers' sponsored car in 1986.

Answer: Tim Richmond

Richmond was in his seventh of eight seasons as a Nascar driver. Tim won seven races in 1986, with 13 top five, and 17 top ten finishes. He later died of an illness.
9. Who left the Target team to race the number 4 red Lucas Oil Chevrolet in 2004?

Answer: Jimmy Spencer

Jimmy made only 26 starts for the Morgan-McClure Motorsports team sponsored by Lucas Oil in the 2004 season, finishing 35th in points.

Answer: Jamie McMurray

Although all Dodge drivers, McMurray drove the Texaco-Havoline Dodge for Chip Ginassi Racing. Jamie finished 11th in the Nextel Cup point standings with seven top five finishes.
