5. Who was the only pitcher to win 40 games in a season for a New York team in the entire 20th century?

The Yankees still finished 1.5 games back of the Red Sox. Jack pitched for 11 seasons in his career, and would never win 30 in a season again. Ed Walsh of the White Sox was the only other pitcher in the century to win 40 in a season, when he went 40-15 in 1908.
6. In which year did the New York Giants take their first World Series title?

Answer: 1905

1905 was the second World Series played. It pitted the Giants against Connie Mack's Philadelphia Athletics. Answer: Robins

The franchise began as the Brooklyn Atlantics, then went through a variety of names before going with the Dodger name in 1911 and 1912. 9. Who was the first New York Met pitcher that won the Cy Young Award?

Answer: Tom Seaver

Seaver was part of the 1969 'Amazin Mets' that went all the way to a World Series crown. Seaver went 25-7 in the season. After winning the NL Rookie of the Year in 1967, Seaver would win the Cy Young over Phil Niekro of the Braves. Tom would win two more in 1973 and 1975.
