1. Who was the 2004 Nextel Cup Champion?

Answer: Kurt Busch

In one of the best points races in NASCAR history, Busch edged out Jimmie Johnson by only eight points to win the first ever Nextel Cup.
2. Which driver had the most victories in the 2004 season?

Answer: Jimmie Johnson

Johnson won an awesome eight races including four of the last six races of the season.
3. How many drivers scored their first career Nextel Cup win in 2004?

Answer: 0

This was a season for the veterans. The new guys came close but nobody scored their first career win. Of course, poor Kasey Kahne came close with five second place finishes.
4. Who was the 2004 Rookie of the Year?

Answer: Kasey Kahne

With an unbelievable season scoring five 2nd place finishes, Kahne will be a force in the chase in 2005.
5. How many pole winners were there for the 2004 season?

Answer: 12

Just like 2003, Ryan Newman blistered the field winning nine poles. Others that won poles were: Jeff Gordon(7), Kasey Kahne(4), Jimmie Johnson(3), drivers with two; Kurt Busch, Joe Nemechek, Casey Mears, Jeremy Mayfield, and Brian Vickers. Greg Biffle, Ricky Rudd, and Bobby Labonte had one pole each.
6. How many different winners were there in the 2004 season?

Answer: 13

Of the 36 race season, Jeff Gordon, Jimmie Johnson, and Dale Earnhardt Jr combined to win 19 races. Didn't leave much for the rest of the field.
7. In the final race at Homestead, Kurt Busch almost gave the championship away when this fell off if his car?

Answer: tire

When Busch came off of turn 4 he was heading to the pits with a vibration in the right front of his car. As he came into the pits, the wheel fell off and he almost slammed into the pit wall. Wow, now that was close.
8. All the drivers that finished in the top 10 in points had at least one win?

Answer: True

All drivers in the top ten finished with one win. This may not have happened if Jeremy Mayfield had not won Richmond to take the 10th and final spot in the chase.
9. The 2004 season saw the retirement announcement of two of the sports greatest drivers. These drivers will retire from driving after the 2005 season. Mark Martin was one, who was the other?

Answer: Rusty Wallace

After long and great career, Martin and Wallace announced to retire from racing after the 2005 season. Terry Labonte announced his retirement as well, but will only run 10 races in 2005 and 10 in 2006.
10. After the 26th race of the season, which driver won his way into the final 10 race, 'Chase for the Cup', by winning at Richmond?

Answer: Jeremy Mayfield

Mayfield won the final race in the 'Race to the Chase' and took the tenth and final spot in the 'Chase for the Nextel Cup'.
