Answer: Joe Carter

In game six, down 6-5 against the Phillies, Carter was facing Mitch Williams on the mound. Joe's 2-2 pitch was a three-run home run, scoring Rickey Henderson and Paul Molitor, giving the Blue Jays a four games to two World Series crown.
2. The great Nolan Ryan was the first pitcher in history to strike out 4000 batters in a career. Which Hall of Fame 'C' was the next to reach this milestone?

Answer: Steve Carlton

Ryan hit the 4000-milestone in 1985. Nolan went on to reach the 5000-mark and retire with 5714 in 1993. Carlton, the left-hander and mainly with the Cardinals and Phillies, struck out his 4000th batter in 1986 while a member of the Chicago White Sox. Steve retired in 1988 as a Twin with 4136 career strikeouts.
3. Oh 'Cey' can you 'C'? Ron Cey played most of his career with the Dodgers of Los Angeles, playing in the 1970s and 1980s. What was his nickname?

Ron was a third baseman and finished sixth in the Rookie of the Year voting in 1973. He won the NL Babe Ruth Award in 1981. Cey went to four World Series with the Dodgers, and has three series home runs to his credit. He hit 316 in his career.

Answer: Ray Chapman

Chapman and his Cleveland Indians went up against the New York Yankees on August 16. It was Covelski on the mound for the Indians, and Carl Mays on the mound for the Yankees. Mays hit Chapman and he died the following day. The Indians won the game 4-3, but doubt they were concerned with that.

The did however, dedicate the rest of the season to Chapman, and they went on to win the American League pennant by two games over the White Sox, then the World Series over the Brooklyn Robins (later Dodgers).

Answer: Roger Clemens

Nicknamed 'Rocket', Roger won the 1986 Cy Young and MVP Award together with the Red Sox, then repeated the Cy in 1987. He won another Cy with them in 1991, then two more with the Blue Jays in 1997 and 1998. More came in 2001 with the Yankees and 2004 with the Astros. Clemens was the first pitcher in history to win four Cy Young Awards with four different teams.

He led the league seven times in ERA, five times in strikeouts, and six time in shutouts. With his two Cy Youngs in 1997 and 1998 with the Blue Jays, he also threw a Triple Crown both seasons, yet still finished 10th and 11th in the MVP voting.

Connor was the first player in history to hit a walk-off grand slam in 1881. Ruth smacked his 139th career home run in 1921, his second season in the pinstripes.

Tony was in his sixth season with the Braves on July 3, 1966. With his own July 4th celebration, Cloninger capped off a seven-run first inning for the Braves before even taking the mound with a grand slam. His other shot came in the fourth inning against the Giants at Candlestick Park. Cloninger and the Braves won the game 17-3. Tony hit only 11 home runs in his career.

In 1916, he was runner-up to the Indians' Tris Speaker by .005. He came close to winning 13 consecutive batting crowns. His Triple Crown came in 1909, and his MVP in 1911 with the first presentation of the award.
