1. Which Major League team was the last one that would not play home games on a Sunday?

Answer: Pittsburgh PIrates

It was due to the city's blue laws which did not allow that type of activity on a Sunday in Pittsburgh. Their first-ever Sunday game happened on April 29, 1934, in a 9-5 win against the Reds.
2. Which was the first Major League team to go from worst in their league to first in the following season?

Answer: Atlanta Braves

The Mets came close when they won the NL in 1969 after finishing ninth in 1968. The Braves finished 26 games behind the Reds in the NL West in 1990, then took the NL West crown in 1991 against the Pirates. They would go all the way to the World Series, but lose to the Twins.
3. Who was the first player in history to steal home twice in a game?

Answer: Joe Tinker

Although Cobb stole home 35 times from 1905-1928, Tinker stole home twice with the Cubs on June 28, 1910.
4. Who was the first baseball father to have two different sons both win a batting title?

Answer: Ewart Walker

Ewart Walker was a Washington Senator pitcher from 1909-1912, and had the honor of pitching with the great Walter Johnson. Son Dixie won the NL batting title in 1944 with the Dodgers, then the younger Harry won it in 1947 while playing for both the Cardinals and Phillies.
5. Which of the following pitchers set a Major League record by winning 24 consecutive games?

Answer: Carl Hubbell

Hubbell straddled the 1936 and 1937 seasons with the Giants to set this amazing record. In 1936 he went 26-6, then 22-8 in 1937. 1936 saw Carl win his second NL MVP, after his first in 1933. The 1947 Hall of Fame great retired with a 253-154 record after 16 seasons.
6. The first National League game was played in 1876. Which teams went head-to-head in that inaugural game?

Answer: Philadelphia Athletics and Boston Red Caps

The game took place on April 22. Boston won this inaugural game 6-5 with Joe Borden taking the first win from the mound. Jim O'Rourke had the very-first hit in National League history also.
7. Which Major League Hall of Fame pitcher lost more than 50 games in a two-season span?

Answer: Vic Willis

In 1904 with the Boston Beaneaters (later Braves) of the National League, Willis went 18-25 that helped the result of a seventh place finish of eight-teams. In 1905, Vic went 12-29 and saw the team finish the same. His career record was 249-205 over 13 seasons.

He also pitched for the Pirates, where he saw his only World Series championship in a 1909 win against the Tigers. He went 0-1 in the series. Willis was inducted into the hall in 1995.
8. Who was the first African-American to hit a home run in his very-first Major League at-bat?

Answer: Dan Bankhead

Jackie Robinson won baseball's first Rookie of the Year award in 1947, and this was even after starting his career off with a 0-for-20 batting streak. Bankhead was also a rookie in 1947, and was a pitcher for those same Brooklyn Dodgers. Ironically, it was Bankhead's only home run of his career.
9. Which National League pitcher set a record for dishing up 46 home runs in a season?

Answer: Robin Roberts

Roberts pitched for the Phillies most of his career from 1948-1966. He gave up 46 in 1956. Robin was also the first pitcher to give up 500 career home runs, retiring after the 505th. He was a 1976 Hall of Fame inductee for his 286-245 record. Blyleven set an American League record in 1986 with the Twins for giving up 50 home runs in the season.
10. This player was the first in history face the great Babe Ruth. He later became the radio voice of a Major League team for many decades. Who was this broadcaster?

Answer: Jack Graney

Graney was a Cleveland Indian in 1914 when he faced Ruth and the Boston Red Sox. Graney hung up his cleats in 1922, then became the voice of the Cleveland Indians.
