Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. To begin the game, the server must hit which wall first?

Answer: Front wall

If the server hits any wall but the front wall first, he will automatically lose his serve.
2. An impossible shot to return is called what?

Answer: Roll out

Hitting right in the crack (called a "crotch" shot) is not considered a roll out (a shot that instead of bouncing after hitting the front wall rolls along the floor).
3. How many times must the ball bounce to be "dead"?

Answer: Twice

A roll out is considered bouncing twice.
4. A player can never call a 'hinder' while rallying.

Answer: False

If your opponent interferes with one of your offensive shots, it can be called an "avoidable hinder" and cause you to win the rally.
An "avoidable hinder" is when your opponent could have somehow avoided getting in your way, either by moving out of the way (and refused to), or simply by choosing a bad shot. Otherwise, a regular hinder is called, and the rally is played over.
5. If the referee clearly makes a bad call, and both players unanimously agree, than they can change the call.

Answer: True

Referees for professional games can have up to three line judges to help give calls. In regular tournament games, however, there is usually only one referee keeping score and calling shots.
6. Who is the only player during a rally that can gain a point?

Answer: One who serves

If a player gets out of hand, the referee can add or subtract points as a penalty.
7. What is a good defensive shot to get your opponent out of center court?

Answer: Ceiling ball

Ceiling balls can be sometimes used as an offensive shot to win the rally.
8. Players have to win by two?

Answer: Never

Unlike ping-pong or other racquet sports, you do not have to win by two in racquetball.
9. If a player hits his opponent with the ball, does his opponent win the rally?

Answer: Never

Actually, if the opponent was in the way for an offensive shot, the player shooting the ball can sometimes win the rally calling for an "avoidable hinder".
10. Are headbands required in games?

Answer: no

Unlike headbands, eyeguards are mandatory for any tournament game, and should be worn while playing for fun as well.
