Answer: Miami Dolphins

After going 10-3-1 in the regular season, the Dolphins made easy pickings of the Colts in the AFC Championship game 21-0, then were the one picked as they lost in Super Bowl VI to the Cowboys 24-3 in Jauary 1972. Miami would rebound with a perfect 1972 season.
2. Oklahoma State was the first school to win back to back NCAA Men's Basketball Championships. Which seasons did they accomplish this?

Answer: 1945 and 1946

The first NCAA championship game was held in 1939. In 1945, Oklahoma State defeated NYU, then North Carolina in 1946. Their next bid for a championship was in 1949, but lost in the final to Kentucky.
3. After hitting 714 home runs throughout his Major League baseball career, the icon of baseball in the name of Babe Ruth died in what year?

Answer: 1948

Ruth, being the first home run king of baseball, hit over 50 home runs in a season four times in his career. Those were 54 in 1920 in his first season with the New York Yankees, 59 the following season, then 60 in 1927, and 54 in 1928. His final season was in 1935. He died on August 16th in New York.
4. In one of the most shocking games in World Cup history, the United States World Cup team defeated heavily-favored England, in which a book was written by Geoffrey Douglas, "The Game of Their Lives". Which year this happen?

Answer: 1950

The U.S. team defeated the heavily favored England team 1-0, but never advanced from group play after a loss to Spain in 1950.
5. Tiger Woods, in his first appearance in a Masters golf tournament as a professional, won by 12 strokes. In which year did this happen?

Answer: 1997

After becoming a professional golfer in August 1996, "Sports Illustrated Magazine" voted him Sportsman of the Year. Tiger lost his father who coached him throughout his childhood on to the green, to prostate cancer on May 3, 2006.

Answer: 1969

The franchise began in 1962 in the National League. After finishing no better than ninth of ten teams for seven consecutive seasons, they turned it all around in their eighth season, defeating the Baltimore Orioles four games to one in the World Series.
7. In which year did the National Hockey League find a franchise in Los Angeles with the Kings?

Answer: 1967

The Kings began their franchise in the Long Beach Sports Arena, then moved to the Los Angeles Sports Arena before the season ended. The Kings were part of an expansion in the league in 1967 which included the Oakland Seals, Philadelphia Flyers, Minnesota North Stars, St. Louis Blues, and Pittsburgh Penguins.

In 1988, the NHL became a true part of the Southern California experience when the Kings received Wayne Gretzky. With a tremendous season in Los Angeles, he won his ninth Hart Memorial Trophy as the league's MVP.
8. Which NFL team was the first to appear in three consecutive Super Bowls?

Answer: Miami Dolphins

In Super Bowl VI, VII, and VII, the Dolphins just wouldn't leave. After losing to the Cowboys in Super Bowl VI, then they defeated the Redskins and Vikings in VII and VIII.
9. In what year did the United States national team win their first FIFA Women's World Cup?

Answer: 1991

1991 gave the U.S. a soccer boost with the national team of Michelle Akers, Joy Fawcett, Brandi Chastain, and Kristine Lilly. The 19-year old Mia Hamm was also the youngest American female to be a World Cup victor.
10. The great Ted Williams of Major League baseball played his entire career with which team?

Answer: Boston Red Sox

'The Splendid Splinter' as he was nicknamed, played from 1939-1960. Williams won two American League MVPs and two Triple Crowns. Ted led the AL in batting six times, and four times with the most home runs. He died in 2002 after being inducted into baseball's Hall of Fame in 1966.
