1. Which of these four is a golfer who competed on the PGA tour in the late 1990s and early 2000s?

Answer: Fred Funk

Funk, from Tacoma Park, Maryland, joined the PGA tour in 1989. He collected his first tour win at the 1992 Shell Houston Open. He joined the Senior Tour in 2006, winning his first senior major at The Tradition in 2008.
2. The Dockers are an Aussie Rules team from which city?

Answer: Fremantle

The Fremantle Dockers made their Australian Football league debut in 1995. They share the Subiaco Oval in Perth with their local rivals, the West Coast Eagles.
3. Which baseball hall-of-famer was a batting Triple Crown winner in 1933, and hit 534 career home runs between 1925 and 1945?

Answer: Jimmie Foxx

Foxx made his debut for the Philadelphia Athletics in 1925, and would go on to play for the Boston Red Sox and Chicago Cubs, before returning to Philadelphia in 1945 to end his career with the Phillies. He was a three-time American League MVP, was selected to nine All-Star Games, and won two World Series with the Athletics, in 1929-30.
4. Who defeated Muhammad Ali in the "Fight of the Century" on 8th March 1971?

Answer: Joe Frazier

Both Frazier and Ali were undefeated as professionals when they met at Madison Square Garden in 1971. Frazier was the undispurted World Heavyweight champion, whilst Ali had been stripped of his world crown in 1967 after refusing to be drafted into the US Army. Frazier won the fight on points after 15 gruelling rounds.
5. Which one of these US colleges has sports teams nicknamed Paladins?

Answer: Furman

Based in Greenville, South Carolina, the Furman Paladins are members of the Southern Conference. The school's football team were NCAA Division 1-AA national champions in 1988. Sporting stars who were student athletes at Furman include golfers Betsy King, Beth Daniel and Brad Faxon, as well as soccer player Clint Dempsey.
6. Which one of these members of the Pro Football Hall of Fame threw 254 touchdown passes for the San Diego Chargers?

Answer: Dan Fouts

Fouts was drafted by the Chargers out of the University of Oregon in 1973. In a 15-year career, he was selected to six Pro Bowls, and set what was at the time an NFL record for a season's passing yardage with 4,802 yards in 1981.
7. Which sport has two main versions, known as Eton and Rugby?

Answer: Fives

Fives is a sport similar to squash, where competitors strike the ball with a bare or gloved hand rather than a racket. Named after the public schools where the versions were devised, the biggest difference between the two versions is the hardness of the ball, the Eton one being both softer and lihghter.
8. Which Australian athlete won the women's 400m track event in front of her home crowd at the 2000 Olympics in Sydney?

Answer: Cathy Freeman

Freeman had the honour of lighting the Olympic Flame prior to the 2000 games, then went on to lift gold in the 400m, beating Jamaica's Lorraine Graham by .47 of a second. Freeman had earlier won the 400m at the World Championships of both 1997 and 1999.
9. Which Brazilian driver was Formula 1 World Champion in both 1972 and 1974?

Answer: Emerson Fittipaldi

Fittipaldi made his Formula 1 debut with Lotus in 1970, winning the US Grand Prix in his debut season. He won five races on his way to the 1972 title, and three during his 1974 title year. He retired from racing after the 1980 season, before making a comeback on the CART circuit in 1984. He twice won the Indianapolis 500, in 1989 and 1993.
10. How were the tennis players Jean Borotra, Jacques Brugnon, Henri Cochet and Rene Lacoste collectively known during the 1920s/30s?

Answer: Four Musketeers

Between them, the four French players won 20 Grand Slam singles and 23 Grand Slam doubles between 1922 and 1936. They also led France to six consecutive Davis Cup triumphs between 1927 and 1932. The Musketeers nickname was a reference to the famous French novel "The Three Musketeers", written by Alexandre Dumas.
