Answer: 1921

2. Who was the captain of the Dragons in the 2001 season?

Answer: Craig Smith

Great player ... even if he is a Kiwi!
3. What was the St.George Dragons' biggest ever win?

They achieved this magnificent feat against Canterbury-Bankstown, in 1935. What makes it even more impressive is that tries were only worth 3 points back then!

Everything else came from the Dragons, the dominant club in the merger.
5. When did Illawarra enter the rugby league competition?

They never won a premiership, either.
6. Who were Illawarra known as before linking with St.George?

Answer: Steelers

Just one more thing that they lost when the merger took place.
7. When St.George and Illawarra merged in 1999, who did they beat in their first win?

Right on the siren at Bruce Stadium, having come back from 14-0 down early in the second half, to win 16-14.
8. Which player in St.George-Illawarra hailed from Tingha?

Answer: Nathan Blacklock

Tingha is a very small town near Tamworth.
9. In their first season, the newly merged St.George-Illawarra side made the grand final against the Melbourne Storm. Who did they beat to get in to the grand final, and what was the score?

Answer: Sharks, 24-8

They trailed 8-0 at halftime, but Anthony Mundine led an inspired team into the grand final in their inaugural year as a merged club.
10. When was the last time that the St.George Dragons (as a stand-alone club) won the competition?

Answer: 1979

They lost four heartbreaking grand finals since then: in 1985 to Canterbury-Bankstown, both 1992 and 1993 to Brisbane, and 1996 to Manly-Warringah (and 1999 to Melbourne as St George-Illawarra).
