Answer: Sterling Henton

Henton was 5-0 as a starter prior to a terrible first half versus the the Tide in 1989. The VOLS went to post an 11-1 record.

Powell began the year as a third stringer behind Charles Wilson and Keith Davis. He was a transfer from William and Mary. Injuries to Wilson and Davis thrust him into the starting role versus Miami. The VOLS upset the heavily favored Canes 35-7.
