He scored 205 against New Zealand, and also 200 not out against England.

Originally Border played for New South Wales. After a few seasons, he made the move north.

Early in his career, Border scored 150 and 153 in a test match against Pakistan.

His left-arm orthodox spinners were usually not much of a problem for opposing batsmen. When he retired he still held the record for the best Test match bowling for an Australian captain, 11-96 (7-46 and 4-50), which he took against the West Indies at the SCG in 1989. Border took 39 wickets in his test career.

With 11,174 runs (average 50.56) Border was the first batsman in the history of test cricket to cross the 11000-run mark. He was also the second to pass the 10000 barrier (Sunil Gavaskar was the first.)
